Our helicopter hovers over a forest, the trees topped by snow. Nadia pulls up a screen with info about the scepter we're trying to retrieve. "So, it's owned by this dude named Loki. I don't know where HE is right about now, but hopefully not here." Nadia laughs at herself. "Anyway, be careful. It's capable of mind control, and we don't want that. Also, stay away from the glowing gem." she finishes. Ying and I nod and drop out of the helicopter on ropes. We immediately run behind a tree and get our weapons ready.
Suddenly, I hear gunfire. I pull Ying closer to me protectively. I tap my "watch" that has a camera on it. I zoom into the far forest and see a jeep-type vehicle. There's a man with a bow standing in it and shooting things. By his haircut, I'm guessing these are the Americans. I close out of the camera and prance closer. I know if I can get close enough, they'll all be dead in a heartbeat.
But, Ying receives a message from Nadia saying that the scepter is in the big castle-looking base. We run through the woods ducking behind trees and moving like animals. That's one of the things that they teach you in the red room. In field missions, always try to move like an animal. People will ignore animals. We keep running, up a big hill and away from the gunfire. Suddenly, something swoops past us so fast Ying can't move out of the way. He sliced her side with a knife. "YING!" I yell. She quickly bandages herself up. "I'm ok, Mila. I'm ok," she says. I let out a breath. I can tell she's hurting pretty badly, but holding herself together.
We keep running up the mountain, a bit slower for Ying. We make it through the treeline, and see a man in red and gold armor fly up to the castle. I grit my teeth and run faster. I have to get to it before they do. A man with a shield stops me. I take my gun out and point it at him. "Hi there," he says as he decapitates a robot. I hold the gun in place and peer at him, my hand on the trigger. "Who are you?!" Ying demands, catching up. I look back at her and she has her batons. "I could ask the same about you..." he says, eyeing our uniforms. Ying and I nod at each other. I put the gun away. He puts the shield down. I smirk. Rule number one. Distraction. I whip my batons out of the holster on my back so fast he can't pick his shield back up. Ying and I attack him. This fight goes on for a while until Ying tells me to run to the castle and that she'd catch up. Once I get a good 100 feet closer to the building, I see the same red and gold man crash into the building and bounce right off it. "SHIT!" I hear a voice yell. "LANGUAGE!" I turn around and the man with the shield and the stupid suit is behind me holding Ying's hands behind her back. I give her a Look.
We are escorted back down the hill and to a jet. We don't get on though, we just sit there. Of course, we can undo our handcuffs and get out, but as soon as we do, a man in a red cape with a hammer lands in front of us. "Well, who might you ladies be?" he says in a deep voice. I immediately run at him, only to be thrown back towards the jet. Sighing, I sit down. We won't be able to escape this one. Suddenly, Nadia runs from the woods, breathless. "Guys, there's enhanced in the field!" she says, only to look around and see some of them surrounding us. She joins us in being handcuffed.
Suddenly, the man with the bow emerges from the woods with two people in a weird-looking cage. A boy and a girl. Probably a bit older than us. "These are the enhanced, Cap," he says. "Might not want to let them out of their cage," A red-haired lady says, following him. But wait. She's wearing a widow suit. Ying, Nadia, and I stand up. She stops in her tracks and looks at us. The man in the armor lands behind her. She cocks her head at us. "Um, who are these lovely ladies, cap?" he asks, the red-haired girl still completely still. "We'll know soon enough." The man (cap, I guess) says. He sees the woman. "Hey nat, you ok?". "The suits..." she whispers, barely loud enough to be heard.
"Wait, Nat. Why do their suits look like yours?" the armored man asks, "Not that I'm complaining..." he says eyeing us. I growl at him.
The woman (Nat?) slowly approaches us and we lean back nervously. She holds her hand out, and for some reason I take it. She pulls me in and rests her forehead against mine, I do the same, tears dripping out of my eyes. Again, I don't know why. Ying approaches cautiously, but I can tell she feels it too. Nadia is just watching us with wide eyes. This woman knows us, and we know her, even without ever meeting. Her team(?) watches us, weirded out. Nat looks up with tears in her eyes.
"Tony?" she says, tearily. "Get three rooms at the tower ready. We're gonna have some guests."
Hi guys! THE AVENGERS! I wrote 3 different versions of this chapter, so I'm sorry if it's a little weird sounding. Nat, my baby 😭. Yelena might just show up in this book...
I hope this made you happy or sad or at least feel something. I love you, and I hope you are ok.
