"Emerson, we're leaving soon! Why aren't you ready?" My mother shrieks. I look up from my laptop screen to see her frazzled expression. It's actually pretty funny.
"Uhm.." I trail off, "I had a Supernatural emergency." I close my laptop, and watch as her expression changes into a flat look.
"Just get ready now. Greyson and his family are going to be here at a quarter to 6. Then we have to leave." I look at my clock, and watch the red light blink 5:07. She walks out my door leaving it open an inch. Is she incapable of closing the door completely?
Greyson is my best friend. He has been since the beginning of 4th grade; after Tommy Schultz had spilled his apple sauce on my dress, and Grey stepped in and let me wear his jacket for the rest of the day. He's your typical popular high school boy. He's got the blond hair and baby blue eyes that leave the rest of the school population falling at his feet. But while he acts cool and collected, he's actually a dork.
I walk into the ensuite bathroom, and turn on the shower. Once the room steams up and i'm content with the temperature I jump in.
When I'm finished with my business I grab two towels, wrapping one around my body and twisting my hair in the other one.
I walk back into my room, and see Grey casually laying on my bed watching Netflix.
"Lose my spot in Supernatural, and I won't hesitate to staple your eyebrows to your knee caps." I muttered as I looked through my closet.
"Gee Emme, your threats never cease to amaze me." Grey laughs. I glare at him, and take in his clean cut appearance. Typical suit and tie with some fancy dress shoes.
"Whatever. Why are we even going to this thing?" I pick up a shimmery pink dress. Ew when did this get in my closet? I throw it back on to the floor, and keep looking.
"Because both of our parents are donors. And they always make us attend these." Grey walks over to my closet to help me look. "As hot as you look in that towel Emme, you really need to change."
I look over, and see Grey Jr. beginning to grow. I laugh as I grab a black dress. "Keep it in your pants you freak." I walk back into the bathroom and put on a the dress. It's a pretty dress, I'm not going to lie. It's a black strapless high-low. The front goes down to about mid-thigh. I grab my black pumps, and then begin to apply some eyeliner and mascara to make my hazel green eyes pop. Now for my hair. I begin braiding it, and decide to do a milkmaid braid. I pull a pull a few strands out to frame my face, and walk back into my room.
"Took you long enough," Grey looks up, and lets out a low whistle. "Wow Em. If you're not careful enough I might just try and steal you for myself." I roll my eyes and walk out into the kitchen.
"Finally Emerson! We're going to be late!" My mom rushes. I roll my eyes and give Grace, Grey's mom, a hug. "Hey Grace. How have you been?"
"I've been good dear. You look beautiful." I smile, and thank her while my lovely mother rushes us out the door.
I roll my eyes again and grab Grey's hand. "Let's go before they try to take pictures." We rush out the door to his white 2015 Camaro Z/28.
So we're on the richer side of the scale. Sue me.
I grab his keys, and run to the drivers side before he can take his keys back. He stares at me then shakes his head before getting into the passenger's seat.
"Don't wreck my car." Grey states. "Wouldn't dream of it." I wink before starting the engine.
"Now tell me, what's this ball for?" I question as I turn out of the neighborhood.
"It's for the Andies Foundation. They're the ones who fund children's dying wish. Kind of like the Make a Wish Foundation. I heard they're having some big superstar there too." I nod as I turn on the radio.
I start dancing and rapping along with Nicki Minaj as her song Truffle Butter comes on. God if my parents could see me now they'd have a heart attack.
My mood dampens when the song ends and some radio show comes on.
"-you know the Andies Foundation charity ball is tonight? I heard Logan Woods' is going to be there! We all know he's been looking for a lucky lady. Maybe he'll find his princess at the ball tonight! Don't you wish you could be his lucky lady, Linda? Anyways, Jennifer Lawrence's latest movie-"
Well now we know who's going to be at the ball tonight. "Do you think we can get McDonald's before the ball? We all now they're going to have some strange food that I'll never find appetizing." They always have exotic food for these events. I don't understand why, is chicken or pizza so bad? I change lanes so that we're now in the correct one to get into a McDonalds.
Grey gives me a look before saying, "We both know if I so much as gave you a fry your mom would have my head on a plate."
I sulk down in my seat while keeping my eyes on the road, swerving back into the original lane. "She doesn't have to know. She know's I hate the foods in these places. Like last time they had fried tarantulas." Okay, I don't know who decided that one, but I hate spiders and eating them is not something I'd like to do in my lifetime.
"We'll just get something after." He pulls out his phone and begins texting. "Which whore is that one?" I smirk.
"I prefer the term 'beneficial woman' it sounds classier doesn't it?" I laugh at his excuse, and groan as I realize we're almost to the Civic Center.
"Awe come on Emme. Put on your beautiful big girl smile, and get through the night. It's only a few hours." Grey tries to encourage me.
"These will be the longest few hours of my life." I mutter as I pull into the parking lot.
