YOUR POV:

“You’re not going anywhere. You’re grounded, young lady.”

“But mom, I have to meet Sandy for the project. We don’t have much time on our hands. Do you want me to get an F?”

“Should’ve thought about it before sneaking out of the house to attend that party. Now go to your room and study.”

There are a few things in life worse than being grounded when you needed to get out of your house the most. Especially when your life depended on it. Well almost.

Our history project was due on Tuesday, and the history teacher decided to pair me up with literally the most irresponsible girl in the entire school, Sandy. Who also happened to be my best friend. Apart from being famous for pulling off the crazy stunts, she was also known for being grounded. Almost every day. Today was no different.

“I can’t come to your house today. Grounded.” I sighed into the phone.

“Whoa. The world is coming to an end. Miss-goody-two-shoes has been grounded? I can’t believe it. What did you do?”

“Trusted you to help me escape from the house to attend Suga’s party.”

“Look, girl, I really did not expect your dad to be loitering under your window. What was he doing there anyway?”

“He said something about hearing a sound. So much for being quiet. But that’s not the point. We have to submit this project on time.”

“Yea, I know. I really hate that teacher enough to prefer being grounded than attend his class. But I can’t do anything right now. My family is treating me like a convict. My mom and dad are alternately pacing outside my room. They have made my brother go on regular rounds to the lawn, to check whether I’m trying to escape through the window.”

“Good. So we both are grounded and our parents don’t trust us. What now?”

“Talk to your boyfriend. You haven’t talked to that guy in a while. I could literally feel him pouting throughout the basketball practice.”

“I will. But what were you doing there?”

“Guess. Making out with-”

“Stop. I don’t want to know.”

“Whatever. Have to go now. See you in school tomorrow.”

“Bye.”

I dived into my bed, and buried my head into the pillow. And shouted my frustration out.

Nothing was going right the past week. I got caught while trying escaping with Sandy’s help and was grounded for a month. My parents wouldn’t have minded if I attended a party. The only problem they had was that it was Suga’s. Also I had not seen my boyfriend for a week. He was busy with his series of basketball tournaments. Also the project of the most feared teacher in school’s subject was due in two days. I had fared badly in my math test and my laptop was broken.

Despite all this, the one problem that frustrated me the most was the rumor regarding the best basketball player of the school cheating on his girlfriend. Poor girlfriend, I would have thought. Except, in this case that girlfriend was me.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by my vibrating cell phone.

I looked at the caller ID. Him.

I took a deep breath and answered the call. We needed to sort things out.

“Hello?”

“____, I was looking for you today after my practice got over. Where were you?”
