I was rudely woken up by Hayes and Seth shaking me violently.
"Get up. You promised Hayes a fun day full of adventures." Seth said.
"Ya I know but I didn't mean we were getting up at five in the morning."
"Well it's actually six in the morning." Hayes said.
"Well since you want to be sassy this morning, you can make me breakfast while I shower."
"Okay," He said as they left my room. I stripped down and took a quick shower. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body. I walked back into my room. I took out a pair of light wash shorts. I also grabbed a grey racerback tank top. I put a blue bikini on underneath my outfit. I threw my wet hair into a messy topknot, my usual hair.
I ran downstairs and was greeted by Hayes with an acai bowl in his hand and a coconut in his other hand. I doubt he made it but I took it from his hands anyway. I grabbed my breakfast and headed to the beach. Hayes shortly behind me, my bare feet dug into the damp sand. I sat down and watched the waves crash over and over as I enjoyed my breakfast. Hayes sat beside me and I rested my head on his shoulder as we sat in silence.
After I finished my breakfast Hayes and I went back to the house to get ready. We made mac and cheese for lunch with juice boxes and put them in our backpacks. We had dressed in bathing suits with clothes over them and we were ready for the day. We filled up out water bottles and headed out the door.
We headed down the dirt path as Hayes bombarded me with questions.
"Where are we going? How long are we going to be walking for? Have you ever been here before? Donyou know where you are going? Are we lost? When are we going to eat? What do we do at this lace? When are we going to be home?" He asked impatiently.
"Hayes will you calm down and stop with the questions?" I asked him a little irritated.
"Yeah. Sorry, I just haven't been here before." He answered dissapointed.
"It's fine Hayes." I answered as I laced my fingers with his. Once I touched his hand I felt a wave of warmth come over me. I ignored it. It's probably because I have never held hands with a boy before.
We continued to walk down the dirt path and up the hill. We could see the ocean and the people surfing below. Hayes gasped at the view. We turned around the last corner and we were here, Queens Bath. I dropped my stuff down and walked over to the sign with Hayes.
The sign read, Queens Bath:
Drownings 31,
Unexpected large waves will knock you off the rocks and you will be swept out to sea.
"You ready?" I asked Hayes. He gave me a worried look and gulped. "There's nothing to worry about. I've been coming here since I was three. It's fun I promise." He nodded and we walked over to the rocks. There wasn't anyone here today which is good.
The reason they call it Queens Bath is because It is a circle of rock cliffs surrounding the water. The waves from the ocean crash up on the rocks and create Hawaiian snow. We walked over to the edge of the rocks. I looked at Hayes as he gulped at the length between him and the water. It was a long way down. I grabbed his hand and felt the same warmth. I squeezed his hand giving him a sense of comfort. He looked at our hands then me. He simply smiled giving me the okay to jump. I silently counted to three in my head and we jumped into the air.It was a long way down until we hit the water. I kicked my legs underwater and swam to the surface. Shortly after I surfaced Hayes did too. He gave me a 100 watt smile and we swam back underwater over to the ledge.
We got out of the water and climbed back to the top of the cliff. This time he did a backflip into the water and I dove into the water. We did this a couple more times until I decided that we should go to the final destination. We slipped our clothes back over our bathing suits and continued to hike. This time he grabbed my hand and once again the warmth appeared. We hiked for about ten more minutes until we came where I wanted. The ledge. This was the place that I let all of my worries out. We came to the edge and sat down. We took out our lunches and looked over the ledge.
I saw the surfers start to paddle into the water and I knew that the surf competition was starting. Seth was surfing in the last heat so I knew that Hayes would want a good view.
"Why are all of these surfers going into the water at once?" He asked.
"I thought that you would want to watch Seth in his surf competition today." I said as I bite some of my mac and cheese off of my fork. He smiled again except wider. I was glad that he enjoyed my adventure. I rested my head on Hayes soulder as the competition started.
Hayes lifted my head from his shoulder and brought out his blanket. He put the blanket on the ground and laid back on it. I laid beside him and he actually lifted my upper body and rested it on his chest. I could feel his hot breathe on my neck. As he exhaled I had goosebumps run down my spine.
We cheered on Seth as he placed first in his heat and second overall. Hayes and I didn't move after the ceremony was over we stayed in the same position just watching the waves crash. I ejoyed having Hayes' company. It was comforting.
I sat up, as did Hayes. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug. He generously returned this offer.
"Thanks for being my friend." I whispered quietly.
"What?" He asked.
"I said thanks for being my friend. I've only had one real friend."
"Well I'm very glad that you are my friend because you are the best friend I have ever had." He answered sweetly. "I have never had so much fun with someone that wasn't one of the boys."
"No problem but we are going on another adventure tomorrow" I told him.
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"Can't say." He huffed and then we decided that we should probably start to head home. We packed our bags and trucked down the winding dirt path. Once we got home we were exhausted.
We showered and then watched a movie with the boys and Katina.
"What did you guys do today?" Katina asked.
"Well we went to the baths and then we watched Seth surf from the ledge as we ate mac and cheese." I told her.
"You went to the baths without me!" Seth and Katina both exclaimed.
"Sorry not sorry."
"What are the baths?" Jack Johnson asked.
"I'll show you sometime" Katina said with a wink.
"Okay, well I'm gonna shower and go to bed because I have a big day planned for us tomorrow."
"Okay, well I have to work tomorrow from eight to five." I sighed and nodded as I climbed the stairs. I got ready for bed quickly then hopped in. I checked Instagram and more follow requests came in. Hayes tagged me in a picture at Queens Bath today. I liked it then turned my phone off and slowly drifted asleep.
