It was a long November for Yumi, trying to go to school and forget that her entire adventure ever existed in the first place. But how could someone forget such a thing? The power, the magic, learning about an entire world where dreams come true that's right next door and yet still so far away? The forest by her house no longer has its magic- there is no warp to the dead city of Eppar, no more magic coming through- Flora is still good with plants, but not to an excessive level; Seth can no longer manifest illusions; and Yumi's sight isn't as telescopic as it was before, even if she's still an ace with her bow. To be teased with a world of magic only to be shut away from it is something that only happens to very few people, but maybe magic is something that's drawn to a select few, something that cannot be called but instead lured to a source- maybe the same thing that led Yumi to the mystique of magic led Morrisa to Yumi- something in that forest draws a very special sort of energy, after all...There are very few ways to travel between the worlds of Venell and Earth- it's set that way on purpose, of course, to keep the worlds apart. Eppar Town was part of a small world with portals made to both, but that has since been taken down. Morrisa, of course, has used a bit of trickery to find her own way- to be reborn on Earth as a boring, nonmagical human as an attempt to find herself a better life. The act of rebirth is draining- being killed and reborn to a body that's not quite the same as the one you used to have; Morrisa is a bit taller, a bit more hefty than her previous self, and in a jacket and shorts with her hair a fair cut shorter than usual."So, you're the girl with the bow." Of course she knows about Yumi -her brothers talked about her a lot over the past few weeks, of course- even if she wasn't expecting the girl to be the first one she met upon coming to this new world. "I've heard about you."Yumi jumps upon hearing the voice! She trips over an exposed root, hitting her head against a tree and scraping her hand against the bark. "Ow! Who are you!?" Looking up at the stranger, she's sure she's never seen her in school at least, even though she looks like she'd be school age.Morrisa puts her hands into her pockets, leaning back against a tree to semi-match Yumi's own posture, something she can only assume to be a regular thing to do in this world. "I hear you've met my brothers. They seem to like you.""Sachin's alive!?" Yumi jumps to her feet, running to Morrisa and grabbing her arms in both hands! "How is he? I'm so so sorry about what happened!""Yea." Morrisa stands upright, glancing away before facing Yumi- with both girls so close to each other, Morrisa notices she's a few inches taller than Yumi- she's not used to being /taller/ than someone, after all. "He's more upset that he can't see you, but he can wait a few decades. He /will/ wait a few decades, he said; he doesn't wantcha to kill yourself or whatever." Of course Morrisa has had her own thoughts on the matter- she killed people all the time back in Venell! She knows a Daughter of Death! She could totally just kill this girl and give her brother his loved one... if she cared enough about her brother to /not/ have him wait. "Nuke's also fine, by the way."Yumi hugs Morrisa! "Yes! Yes! Wait!" she pauses her celebration, going right back to holding Morrisa's arms and staring in her dark blue eyes. "Can I see him? I mean, without dying? I just want to see him again- talk to him.""Nah." Technically it would be possible for them to meet and for Yumi to go back to her human life here, but since when is Morrisa one to give people what they want? "But I'm here and got nowhere to go, and I could use something to eat." She shrugs as she says this- no one in Venell would give her a place to rest or a bite to eat without fighting or threatening them first, but she was told Earth was different, and there's no time like the present to test that theory."Mom, dad, I'm home- and I have a friend." Yumi brings Morrisa into her home- from Flora coming in to crash whenever she wants, and Sachin coming in for a few months- her parents are used to Yumi bringing friends over- in fact they encourage it. Morrisa raises an eyebrow at being called a 'friend' by this girl she just met. Humans from Earth are so different from humans from Venell. Before she can vocalize anything, a man calls back from the couch."How was school, Yumi? Who's your friend?""Oh, school was great! And this is-" Yumi steps out into the room, gesturing to Morrisa. "um-" in her excitement in finding someone magical from Venell, she forgot to ask her name."Mor..." her voice trails off a little- is 'Morrisa' a normal name for someone from Earth? Well, it's too late to come up with a fake one, and it's too much effort to try to go by something else. "...risa..." she mumbles with a shrug."Morrie, my boy! I hope Yumi has been treating you well."Yumi and Morrisa turn to look at each other- Yumi recently lost her last boyfriend, after all, and she hasn't had any friends other than Flora over since then, so maybe her dad's just glad she has a friend, but why does he think that this short-haired, fair-framed, flat-chested, poor-postured, dull-voiced... so maybe he has a reason to think as much."Well enough." Morrisa glances at the man, going for her hip where she'd normally carry her knife, but of course there's nothing there. "She's kinda popular." From how much her brothers talk about her, she at least seems to be popular."Right. Anyway. Yumi takes Morrisa's hand and leads her across the living room and to the kitchen, going into the cupboard to grab a few granola bars. "We're gonna hang out in my room, don't mind us!""Don't be too loud, now!" Yumi's dad calls out to the girls as they run downstairs.Yumi's room should be a decent size, if half of it wasn't taken up by a bed. There's a TV and a few game consoles, a good closet, and a Japanese-style bow on the wall behind her bed. Yumi jumps onto the bed and gets comfortable with her back against a wall, holding a granola bar out to Morrisa. "You're hungry, right? Come on."Morrisa gets a good look around the room before crawling onto the bed, taking the food and putting her back against the opposite wall, eating her gift."Um... Morrie?" Yumi asks- she /thinks/ the one sitting opposite her isn't a boy, but she could be wrong about that. "Morris? Sorry, I didn't hear your name very well.""Morrisa. But I'll take Morrie if that's more of an Earth name." her food already done, she lies down on the bed with one leg slightly bent and one foot hanging off. "Never been here, after all.""Well hey, it's not my first time showing someone from Venell about stuff on Earth!" Yumi smiles, lying down to be face to face with Morrisa, her own body more curled up so there's nothing hanging off the bed. "And you should be who you want to be- whoever that might be."Considering that 'who Morrisa is' would get caught and arrested without her powers, being herself seems like a poor idea. "Yea... or I could try to be human.""Wait- you're not a shapeshifter?" Sachin and Nukpana were both shapeshifters, why wouldn't their sister?"I couldn't take a portal here- I'm just human. I don't see what's so great about being human.""Yea..." Yumi sighs. She's heard a bit about Venell from Sachin, but she's always ready to hear more. The girls talk for a while- Morrisa needs to find a life for herself even though she's been reborn as a teenager, Yumi learns more and more about the wonderful world of Venell, and eventually the two are interrupted by a phone call!"Hey Seth..." Yumi's still lying down when she answers the phone. "Um, I don't know...""Ya gotta be more confident." Morrisa mutters."Seth, I really don't think I want to spend a weekend in the woods in winter. Maybe next time? ...No, Seth, Flora doesn't want to go out hunting. Still.""Whatcha hunt? Dire wolves? Dragons?" A determined group of humans could probably take out a small dragon, even without magic."Huh? Normally deer. ...no, Seth, just a friend."Morrisa laughs. "Just deer? That's child's play!""Ow! hey!" Now Yumi has two people being loud at her- her brother heard Morrisa's outcry over the phone. "Ugh, fine." She pulls her phone down to her chest to talk to Morrisa better, "My dad, brother, and I sometimes go out to hunt deer- wanna go out this weekend?"...hunting... killing... and not getting in trouble? "Killing deer?""We try to get one, yea. We have hunting licenses, so it's all good. What do you think? I'll go if you go.""Yea!" Humans can kill stuff without getting in trouble for it! This is the life she's wanted!"Alrighty..." she pulls her phone back up, where Seth is already celebrating. "Se- yea... Mor... yea I'll tell him... yea, bro..." She hangs up, rolling over to push her face into her pillow. "Ugh..." Why did Flora's excitement have to spread to her brother?"So tell me 'bout this hunting stuff." Morrisa and Yumi are back upstairs a few hours later- Yumi has already told Morrisa all about it, but Morrisa just wants to talk about it more while Yumi gets a start on dinner. "Ya really just go out to get deer?""Of course, Morrie! It's a family thing, but sure you can come along! We take the trailer out for the weekend and bag ourselves a deer.""Yea!" Morrisa is pumped for the idea, and if she's gonna keep being called 'Morrie' all weekend, she's not even gonna care if she can still kill something. The pair are interrupted with someone else waltzing inside! Flora is back! "Hello, hello, soccer was great, how are things-" she freezes when she sees Morrisa, pulling herself into a defensive stance- one foot just behind the other, hip toward Morrisa, one hand on her purse string and one ready to fight. She knows someone from Venell when she sees one, and she's ready to fight!"Yo." Morrisa eyes up this new stranger, crossing her arms in an obvious display of seeing this girl as anything /but/ a threat. That pink hair, that open jacket over a soccer uniform, the pink nails and fake earrings, it all screams 'I am not a fighter'. Combined with the slight shaking of the ankles, the slightly-heavy-breathing when she walked in, and the light flush on her skin? This girl isn't in fresh condition. "Don't try me.""Flora." Yumi's father puts a stern tone to his voice, "This is Morrie. Another one of Yumi's friends. Be nice.""Oh..." Flora relaxes, practically skipping right past Morrisa and into the kitchen with Yumi. "Thought you were someone else." she lies, sliding on the floor and turning her back to bump into the fridge door. "So. Morrie?""A friend that I, you know, met.""No no no, full story. Downstairs. Now." Flora grabs the back of Yumi's collar, practically dragging the girl to the stairs!"Ah! The rice!" Yumi heads downstairs with Flora anyway- there's no real fighting her when she gets determined, after all.
