I ran for my life. I ran as fast as I could, through the dark and menacing forest, through the twisted   trees, pursued by the glinting full moon and the people who were hunting me down.

I was trusted by The Boss to transport the formula to him, but neither of us knew about the ambush that March had planned. Now, I'm being chased, and if I get caught, I can kiss life goodbye. And so can the rest of the world, if March's men get a hold of the formula.

I was outnumbered, there was one of me and roughly ten of them. I was a wizard, but I was weak and probably couldn't fight them all off. I ran faster, but I could feel them getting closer. I could feel someone's hot breath on the nape of my neck, then I felt a solid kick to the back of my knee. With a scream, I hit the ground like a ton of bricks.

I felt rough hands yank me, and turn me onto my back. A huge man wearing a ski mask kneeled above me, holding a razor sharp blade. It glinted murderously in the moonlight, as if it wanted to be buried deep in my throat. I gulped.

"Give me the formula, or I will cut your neck open, little girl," the man snarled at me.

I glared defiantly at him. "Never." Then brought my fist back and punched him in the face as hard as I could, but he didn't even flinch. Realisation hit me, and I gasped - I knew what he was. A vampire.

Before I could say anything, he brought back the knife and pushed it through my chest, and into my heart. Pain exploded in the area, and I heard my attacker running away.

In my final moment, as I kissed the world goodbye, I silently apologised for the horror I had failed to prevent.
