"Oh my God, you look like death too," Val giggled as Harry accepted the FaceTime, his face filling her screen. She was sat cross-legged on her bed, having shed her forest green hoodie for a thin-strapped orange crop-top. Harry, on the other hand, looked like he had just woken up, which was probably true; he was wearing a wrinkled sky blue jumper, and there were shadows around his eyes as he lay in bed on his side.
He groaned, slapping a hand over his forehead. "I actually hate you right now, you know," he said, blinking the final dredges of sleep from his blue eyes. "Last night absolutely finished me, and it's all your fault."
Sweeping her hair over her shoulder, she flashed him a wide, innocent smile. "I have a 24-hour grace period as a new friend where I can do no wrong, ever," she declared.
Harry thumped his head back against his pillow. "Can I take back my friendship?"
"Sorry, you're in it for life now."
His lips twitched, and he shook his head, shifting so he was also sitting vertically, bringing his legs to his chest and propping his phone on top of his knees. "Alright then," he said, not sounding upset with that at all. Fingers stroked his jawline, ghosting over the faint stubble. "God, how do you look so good right now? It's insane."
She could feel her cheeks heat up, and she ran a hand through her loose brown hair, glancing away to the side and pretending to be enthralled by something in her room. Her eyes still felt crusty, and the skin beneath them was painted over with shadows; she definitely didn't share his sentiments. "Next to you, how can I not look good?" she deflected, chuckling.
