"I'll take care of you" [Tanjirou] (1/3)

A/N: Kon'nichiwa! Welcome everyone that decided to read this chapter, first, I just wanted to thank you so much for reading this and explain some things. First, I don't know much about japanese culture, so, if I get something wrong I apologize, second, I'm still getting the characters personality, so maybe they'll be a little ooc. With that said, please, enjoy the story.

Run. That's the only thing on your head, you've been running for some minutes now, trough a not-so-clear forest, which made difficult for your already tired-self; avoiding branches, rocks, if you fall right now, it might cause your death. Why are you running, you ask me? You see, (Y/N) was a normal person, they had a very peaceful and simple life, they lived in a small village that was situated not so far from a deep forest. They never thought much about it, since the maximum that could happen was some animal invanding the town, however, something even worse had came into the small town... 

Demons. Man eating creatures that were far stronger and faster than a normal human. (Y/N) had listened the stories about those things, but they never believed it was true, they always thought it was just a spooky story made for the kids to not wander in the forest too late. Oh, how they prayed right now that it was true.

One night, when (Y/N) was having troubles to sleep, they could swear they heard strange noises coming out of their window, their family only said they were probably hearing things in the dark and that they should go back to bed. And so, they did, but the noise only got louder, scared, they decided to go investigate; (Y/N) picked up their lamp and held their haori closer to their body, for it was a pretty cold night. They opened their house door, but found nothing, the only sound they heard now was of the wind blowing the three's leaves and the crickets chirping.

'Weird...' they thought 'I.. I could swear I heard something. Maybe mom and dad were right and it was just my imagination..' (Y/N) concluded and closed the door, they turned on their heel and were heading back to bed when suddenly - "AAAAAHHHHH, P-PLEASE, NO!" - someone screamed and pleaded outside, but a loud roar and the sound of flesh being torn apart muffled the screams. (Y/N) stayed paralyzed, what the hell was that?! 

Maybe it was some savage animal...? (Y/N) rational side was screaming that it was probably just a bear or a wolf attacking someone, which already was alarming, but their... not-so-rational side was whispering that it was a demon. Either way, they didn't wanted to see what happened, so they picked up a knife from the kitchen, that way they would be able to defend themselves if the thing went after them, and exited the house using the back door, carefully, as to not make any sounds.
