I sat in the front of the pack. Everyone dispersed into their own little factions. Yet again, Hope was in the front and center of all of it. Dr. Saltzman cleared his throat as he got up to the podium.
"Good morning everyone, I know it's bright and early for everyone, but hello. As some of you may have heard, there's going to be a new headmaster. I have failed you. I've put you all in danger countless times and I didn't do my absolute best to protect you," he announced.
I looked down at my hands and started fiddling with my fingers. An overwhelming sense of guilt flooding my bones. Was what I said wrong? Absolutely not. I just didn't think he would actually resign.
"Now since I have failed you, I have found someone who I trust with my life and yours. Please welcome your new headmaster, Bonnie Bennett."I trust wholeheartedly. Please welcome your new headmaster, Bonnie Bennett," he announced as she came to stand up at the podium.
"Hello everyone, thank you so much Ric for giving me this opportunity. I don't know what I can do differently, but I'll gladly help you guys through it all. You'll have the opportunity to talk with me and I'll listen to what you have to say and see if we can change them," she said, "May I please talk to the following now: Hope Mikaelson, Jed Tien, Kaleb Hawkins, Milton Greasley, Elizabeth Saltzman, Josette Saltzman, and Bentley Quinn,"
Everyone makes an ooo sound like we're younger kids mocking that the others got in trouble. The six of us get up from our seats and start walking towards where Bonnie is leading us to. We all sat around the table in the conference room.
Bonnie looks at us and laughs, "You guys have got into quite a pickle. Last time I saw you, you were figuring out a way to save Bentley. Nice to meet you by the way."
I shook her hand and smiled softly, "It's nice to meet you too,"
"I just have a few questions to ask you guys. I've learned from Alaric that you guys have really stepped up and tried to save this school. But who here has even started their end of semester projects?" Bonnie said and looked in between the six of us. Neither of us raised our hands, "Mhm and why do you think that is?"
"Because we're out trying to save everyone," Jo mumbled.
Bonnie nodded, "It's great what you guys are doing. I was once in your shoes once, but I was constantly out fighting a battle and it was exhausting. I didn't have a normal high school. I don't remember the last club or sport I was involved in because I was so busy sacrificing myself."
"Look, I'm not saying you can't help, but you can't go out seeking danger. Hope and Bentley, throwing yourselves in the Malivore pit without telling anyone was seeking danger. Josie, you doing a location spell to find Nate and Dani was seeking danger. You will-" Bonnie continued lecturing, but I cut her off.
I looked at Jo with my eyebrows furrowed, "You did what?"
"Ben-"
"I told you to just leave it alone," I mentioned.
"I wasn't going to just let them go," she murmured.
"Girls, come on, we'll discuss that later," Bonnie cut in, but my eyes were still locked on Jo's, "You will still be the Super Squad, but every mission that you go on will be run through me, Dorian, and Emma. If we think it's worth the risk, then we will take it. But if not then we will decline it. Are we all in an understanding?"
Everyone murmured a 'yes', "Good, you guys are dismissed, thank you,"
I caught up to Jo, "I told you to leave it alone, why did you go behind my back?"
"Like you went behind my back to jump in Malivore?" she shot back.
"Alright, who wants to go eat lunch at the Grill?" MG cut into the conversation to stop something bad from happening.
