Mako Yamaguchi (山口真子 Yamaguchi Mako), typically known as Mako (マコ), is a Japanese idol singer and member of NiziU. She ranked 1st in the Nizi Project and debuted as the leader of NiziU.

Mako was born on April 4, 2001, in Fukuoka, Japan. During her second year of junior high, she saw a Japanese trainee get in 2nd place in a JYP Open Audition. This event motivated her to get third place in her next audition. Training hard for a year, she got in third place out of 3,500 contestants. Because of this she was given the opportunity to train at JYP Entertainment in Korea. After training for 2 years there, she made her way to the Nizi Project auditions, where she ranked 1st in the finale.
While at JYP Entertainment, she met Miihi and Rima, where they all set the goal to debut together in the same group.
