An: Prologue is very short but the rest will be much longer.

He watched the fetus bobbing in the embryonic tank with an accomplished sense of pride. It was literally the pinnacle of his career. SHE was the pinnacle. He felt a distinct sense that there would never again be a work this fine.

The blonde hair was coming in just as he had hoped. The eyes of course would have to be altered. He couldn't have anyone figuring out who her mother was. Or who he was for that matter. In the end he settled on a nice shade of green, like a pair of emeralds or a chunk of beautiful sea glass. She would be beautiful, no doubt. He had made her to be perfect and perfect she was, even now. She'd have some issues at first, probably be convinced she couldn't use her chakra for several years, but that would all change when she hit some traumatic event for the first time.

The barest hint of a smile graced his features. It was truly a labor of love. Perhaps his only love besides...well. He wasn't a fool. He knew people thought him callous at best; cold and somewhat emotionless at the worst. Whatever, that didn't bother him. Nothing would ever again truly bother him but the thoughts of this child's future and well being.

He was a changed man. A little, at least. His research still mattered the world to him...taboo and forbidden as it was. He heaved a sigh. The way things were going he may be run out of the village before she reached maturity. That couldn't happen. She...at least had to have exited the incubation chamber first. So that she could safely be left at the orphanage without fear of her origins being discovered.

She was going to have a happy life if he had to give everything else up to achieve it. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case, but if it were...Well he'd have no regrets. Not in this case. He left the lab after covering the tube with his legacy in it and blowing out the candles. "Sleep well, little snake. You have worlds to make yours."
