Ever since Seol-ah's death last year, her last words to me still haunts me till this day. If only I answered her call that night then maybe... just maybe I could've done something to save her.
Her death affected me gravely because she's not only my friend but she's also like a sister to me. "Hana can you pass me the remote?" my mom said.
"Eomma the remote is in front of you, can't you just get it yourself? I need to go now before I'm late to my interview for my new job,"
"IIISSSHH this ungrateful child! How dare you talk back to me huh?! Did you know how much I sacrifice to put food on the table?!"
I just mentally sighed, I love her but sometimes I just want her to understand that I also contribute for this family.
As I drove for the interview I just can't keep hands steady, gosh I haven't been interviewed and yet I can feel myself shivering from fear. I mean who wouldn't right? I am about to be interviewed by the COO of the billion dollar company; the Lee Corporation. If everything goes well then maybe I can be the new Secretary, yea... no pressure at all. After driving for 20 minutes I finally reached my destination.

I approached the receptionist to ask where the COO's office for the interview.
"The COO office is at the 70th floor and someone will be accompanying you to Mr. Lee's office,"
Wait... did I heard that right? "I'm sorry but did you say Lee?"
The receptionist looked at me weirdly, "Yes... that's the name of the company so naturally the COO's last name is Lee,"
"Ohh right right, hehehe... sorry I thought it was someone I knew. Sorry for the bother and thank you again miss," she smiled slightly and continued with what she was doing on her computer.
Okay... that was not a very good first impression. I can't even focus well because of the name of this company but I need to be mature and besides as if the COO and my "ex- best friend" are the same person right? RIght?
"Excuse me miss?" I was snapped from my thoughts by a male voice. "You must be here for the secretary interview?"
"Uhh yes sir I am, ummm may I say that it is an-"
"Okay please kindly follow me, Mr. Lee is already waiting for you at his office,"
"Oh umm okay lead the way sir," he nodded and guided me to the COO's office.
"Mr. Lee is already waiting for you inside,"
"Thank you again Mr..."
"Secretary Hong,"
"Thank you secretary Hong," he bowed and open the door for me.
As I entered Mr. Lee's office I can see a lot of imported ornaments.
Ki Hana don't do something stupid that you'll regret later
"Umm... Mr. Lee?" I called to the person sitting on the couch
"You must be applicant for the secretary position?" he replied in English.
"Yes Mr. Lee," I replied in English.
"Oh so you speak English fluently?"
"Yes sir, my family actually migrated to the US for 2 years before returning to Korea,"
"I see," he's now reading my resume. "So your name Ki Hana,"
"Yes sir,"
"And according to your resume you didn't graduate Highschool,"
"Umm yes sir, my family is too poor to send me to school,"
"With this kind of resume Miss Ki I don't think I can hire you, you lack experience and knowledge,"
"I may lack experience or knowledge but I promise you sir I'll not be a burden to the company and I'm a fast learner,"
"I'm sorry Miss Ki but I can't hire you into this company,"
"Please sir I need this job, I can take any job you can give me, please sir I really need this job so I can have enough money to go to school,"
"Anything you say?"
"Yes sir anything,"
He looked at me with a stoic face, I hope he would hire me.
"Okay let's make a deal,"
"What kind of deal?"
"I need someone to help me investigate on the death of my sister, I some inside spy to gather information on who killed her,"
Help him investigate? Is he serious?
"I'll pay for your tuition and other expenses in exchange you'll help me investigate... is it a deal?" he extended his hand as he wait for my response.
I'm here to apply for secretary and yet he want me to help investigate instead? But the benefit of me going to school and him paying for my expenses is also a good deal.
"It's a deal Mr. Lee," I replied as I shook his hand.
