First day

The purple doors loomed above, towering up as if they were to crush him at any moment. Metaphorically maybe, and not just bc he was short either. A new place, new people, new friends.... But no, he mustn't think about that yet. He never had that many friends at Ragnor High, why would he make any here? His expectations felt too high, and too low at the same time, he just has to see for himself.
Pushing the doors open slowly, the empty corridor stretched out before him, endless rows of lilac lockers lining up to seal his doom. Well, almost empty. Far back, on the left stood a strange looking boy, purple shirt and hair to match. The boy looked up and smiled, it was an awkward smile as for the Bagel in his mouth.
"Hi?" Ade tried, nervously clinging onto his blue backpack straps.
The boy just looked at the time, which made Ade look too, and when he looked back Bagel Boy was gone, as if he had teleported out of thin air.
"Okayyy" He frowned, baffled.
He wandered down the corridors for a few minutes, getting used to the surroundings. I'm his old school, everything was white or sometimes very very pale grey, but here it was all sorts of colours; greens, purples, blues and reds, it was a nice change of scenery. Although he didn't have much fun in his old school, oh how he missed it so. It was quiet, and the people he knew were cool and loved him, his brother, who father obviously preferred. His mother...
He stopped still, remembering how it was all gone, and if his brother hadn't told him to stay home that day, he would be too.
"Hey!" Came a friendly voice from beside him, down the hallway to his right came a tidy looking girl, brown hair tied up with little yellow clips and a white shirt. She practically bounced down the hallway towards the new boy.
"Oh sorry was there a uniform? I didn't know" He worried, looking down at his Nikes embarrassed.
The girl stopped, looked down at herself and then laughed "No no! This is just how I like to dress, you're fine like that." She smiled impossibly wide. "I'm Emma, but you can call me Em! I'm a older student but I can help you around, where did you come from?"
Ade took a sharp breath in,"...Ragnor"
Ems smile faded slightly "Oh" She had heard of the accident a few months back, the whole school and it's student and teachers burnt in a fire. They say it was the opposing schools students who started it, as so the school got shut down, forcing all of them out too.
"I'm fine, let's just go" Ade half smiled, feeling dread hang down in his stomach.
"Ok..."
Ade followed Em down the hall way for half a second when Em suddenly turned on her heal, "You didn't tell me your name!"
Ade blushed, feeling stupid and rude enough already, "My names Ade, Ade Robinovitch" he looked down again.
"Ooooh is that a Jewish name? Forgive my interest, I love hearing things like this." She smiled, rocking on her heels.
"No it's fine, my Dads a rabbi, just like my grandad and his dad" He flattened his lips into a tight awkward smile.
Em turned her head "Does that mean he wants you to be one too?"
"Yeahh" He sighed, kicking none existent stones "But I have other plans, plus I hardly ever see him"
"Cool! What do you wanna be?" She edged closer in excitement.
"Uuhhh.... Maybe a pilot? Or a airline hostess, anything in they sky and I'm interested." His smile started to grow, thinking about touching soft blue and pink clouds as he soared miles above.
Ems jaw dropped "Whoah that's awesome! Most people here just wanna be a builder or something, well apart from Abu, she wants to be a mermaid" She looked away into the foreground
Ade let out a stifled laugh, covering his mouth to hide his amusement. Em laughed along, "You know that's no better than you  wanting to be a bird?"
"Well okay you didn't need to attack me then, and anyway I think my dream is a bit more achievable." He crossed his arms still smiling.
"Sure sure, you haven't met her yet, I'm pretty sure she can do anything" She simpered fondly, the way a mother might be proud of a child.
"You're good friends with her then?"
She blushed lightly, not heard it being out that way for a long time, "uh you could say so yes" she cut short, closing her eyes into the smile.
"Cool." He nodded, frown smiling.
"Well come on, your new teachers waiting."
