The loud blare of the music and flashing lights welcomed Off as he entered the bar. He looked around to look for his pals. Tay and Arm said that they were already inside the building, but with the sea of people dancing and the dim lighting, finding them is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
He tried to call either of his two friends but they were not picking up.
Might as well order some drinks, Off thought. He knows that sooner or later, they will contact him. He headed to the bar and ordered scotch on the rocks. As he took a sip from his glass, he scanned the room once again. Still, he was not able to see any sign of Tay and Arm. He was contemplating whether to stay or go home.
In the end, staying at the club won since Off knows that no one and nothing was waiting for him at his condo anyway. He sighed and smiled bitterly. Who would have thought that he could feel lonely in a setting like this? He was in a freaking bar, surrounded by a lot of people dancing to an upbeat song. Yet he feels so lonely and out of place.
Maybe it was caused by the booze (he was on his second glass, and he’s doesn’t have a high alcohol tolerance) or maybe it’s because he wants to break the monotony of his everyday life, but Off suddenly had the urge to dance.
He is not a club-type of person, he is more of a homebody. So it is very rare for him to be found at places like this, and he was never alone. He was always accompanied by his best buds, Tay and Arm. Most of the time, he would only be at the corner enjoying his drink while the two would head to the dance floor and party. As per his usual reply whenever his friends would ask him to join them, “My old bones wouldn’t last a minute there. I’m not much of a dancer anyway, my hand and body coordination is shit”.
But tonight, Off decided to abandon any inhibitions as he stood up and headed straight to the dancefloor. It was crowded, understandable since it was the weekend. Most of the people here are unwinding after a long week at work. The DJ played a remix of some famous party anthem and it made the crowd go wild. Off started dancing to the rhythm of the song, head banging with the beat, hips swaying from side to side.
After a while, the adrenaline he felt at the beginning slowly ebbed away as he felt conscious with the several stares he got from the club goers. He thought that they were staring because of his awkward dance moves. But he cannot be further from the truth.
At thirty, Off was blessed with features that can match a model’s. He is tall, handsome and has a lot of sex appeal. The stares he got from the people at the club was not because he was awkward, they are staring because they find him hot.
Off was about to go back to his spot earlier but a small circle gathering at the center of the dancefloor caught his attention. He decided to go nearer and check it out.
A small, petite guy was surrounded by the crowd. They were cheering him on as he danced his heart out. He was jumping and clapping to the music with a big smile plastered on his face.
His energy was so contagious, it vanished the self-consciousness Off felt awhile ago. He joined the crowd who was cheering on the boy. He looked alluring dancing under the flashing lights of the club and Off was drawn.
After a few minutes, he somehow found himself face to face with the dancing boy. Their bodies too close with each other as they sway into the music. The party anthems played earlier are now replaced with a more subtle and sexy tone.
“What’s your name Papii?” the boy whispered in his ear.
His grip on the hips of the boy tightened as he heard that very seductive voice. He looked down at the man who just spoke and saw a glint of mischief in his eyes. And maybe a hint of something more.
