Yami slept inside the confides of his cave curled up with his black tail around the darkness of his scales started to shine as the light drizzled in from the opening of the cave warming him slightly and causing the creature to open one crimson eyes he lifted his giant head from the cold ground giving a mighty yawn his eyes still half closed as he got to his feet and went out the sun was already high letting him know he must have slept in this morning which was fine with him. He looked around watching the many animals in the thick forest run and play. It almost saddened him that they were all afraid of him, many of him had considered him a friend until he had gotten big enough to eat them. He guessed his size made them uncomfortable the only time they would really speak to him is when he transformed into a different form more suitable to what they could consider safe. He made his was down the narrow path that connected his cave to the forest the side of the mountain could be very dangerous for someone that didn't know the many weak spots in the land it's self as yami had learned when he had first come here oh so many years ago.
Almost getting lost in his thoughts he shook his head to regain control over his mind scowling at himself. Not only did he not want to think about the past he certainly wasn't going to do it at a time like this his stomach was trying to kill him he looked around as he continued to move with each step the ground made a strange grumble sound causing him to stop he knew he was big but normally he was able to limit his damage to the ground considering in the forest the earth was so damp because of the many trees around it was hard for the sunlight to hit the soil so when it rained it tended to get very soft/or muddy.
He stopped when he looked into a half clearing it was a big area near the middle of the forest that stood alone almost completely bald the trees hardly touched this area making it an amazing place to hunt or just catch a nap in the sun the ground wasn't as saturated after the heavy rains either making it a wonderful place one of yami's favorites. He stalked around waiting his head moving from left to right scanning the large area for his target he knew from the position of the sun it wouldn't take long and he was right not even ten minutes after he started moving using the tall grass as a way to hide his body the target started its way into the clearing a dear more than likely nine to ten years of age it was a fine looking target well nourished he watched it look around carefully before moving farther in yami knew why as well the deer normally tried to make it to the middle the crash that grew there was the prize for them yami never really understood why but in just a few area's the middle being one of the closest for most of them to get to the grass grew healthier and greener there than in the rest of the open meadow.
He took his position waiting for it to lower it's guard his claws gently went into the soil as his eyes fixated on his target his large tongue swept over his scaly lips leaving behind a small amount of saliva he couldn't remember the last time he had tasted meat. He moved just slightly happy that the deer didn't look up it must have not eaten in a couple of days to be so careless of his surroundings. Yami closed his eyes and reopened them the crimson orbs burned with hunger as he quickly made his move rushing from his place his wings catching a slight wind as he moved causing his body to take off as a rocket he slammed into the small deer wrestling it to the ground his massive size stopped the creature from getting away making it easy for him to use his large fangs to penetrate the neck and break the bones with ease he let go and watched the body go limp letting out his breath not that his hunt was done he bowed in respect sure it might have been just a deer but to yami even a meal had life and that deer had just lost his life so that he might feed taking a moment of silence to appreciate the creature before he bent his head down beginning to tear into the flesh making sure not to waste a single scrap of meat.
(Slight skip.)
Once the deer was gone he used his claw to dig a small hole and put the bones into the earth for yami learned at a young age at some point in all our lifes we will return from the earth that gave us life he turned and sank into the earth his back resting gently against the grass his belly full and his hunger satisfied his eyes began to feel heavy as the wing blew against his scales and the grass the sounds of the forest all around him sounded like a lullaby to him lulling him into sleep with one last look to the sky he closed his eyes surrendering to the need for a small nap his wings folded in around him like a shield not wanting to take his chances there weren't many creatures in this forest that would dare take on a dragon but he wasn't stupid enough to let his guard down giving a quiet yawn he finally let his mind and body rest not knowing that only three miles away some new visitors would soon make themselves known to him and everything else in this forest.
