Prologue

Rage

Gabriel

Gabriel paced his chambers pressing a finger against his chin. This new body suited his needs nicely. Arrok stood beside his throne watching his master pace.

"My lord?" Arrok finally spoke in his guttural way of speaking.

"You have no way to track her? When did you lose her?!"

"When she fled with the others to that cave. The only reason we could track them was the scent of fear."

"GRAH!" Gabriel stomped his foot, throwing his hands in frustration. He could still here the host of this body screaming in the back of his mind. The other Bulezau that had been sent out earlier had returned with many bodies, either ready to be marked or possessed. They all fought at first, they always fought at first. That was half the fun.

"My lord, what is so important about them anyway?" Arrok asked. Gabriel spun quickly on his heel and turned toward the Bulezau.

"You don't understand!" Gabriel charged at Arrok, poking a finger at the tall beast's chest, causing him to stumble initially. "They have the Abyssal Shard!"

"Right, but can't its use be used to either open the abyss or close it?"

"Of course. But if they can figure out how to utilize it and close it, we are done for." Rage pulsed in the blackened veins. He snarled.

"But what if we can prevent that?" Arrok suggested.

"You insolent-" Gabriel paused. What could be hard about stopping them from figuring out how to use the blade? Better still, have them use the blade to open the Abyss further. A grin broke the still face of the body Gabriel wore. "Oh it is quite perfect, isn't it?" He chuckled. He paced the room once more before moving toward the hall that led to the dungeon. He would make sure his plan was sound. Lysandra and her friends would fail.
