Caden was sitting in the courtyard at school, his headphones in his ears as he read a book.
Stefan caught sight of him and walked over. "Caden?" He questioned but the boy didn't hear him because he had his music blasting. "Cade?" He put his hand on his shoulder.
Caden jumped in shock and pulled out his headphones. "Stefan? You scared me."
"Sorry." Stefan smiled and sat down next to him. "I was looking for you."
"You were?"
"Yeah, I wanted to give you something." Stefan put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a bracelet. "This is for you."
"Oh." Caden held out his hand and Stefan placed the bracelet in his palm. "You, uh, got me this?"
"Yeah, it has vervain in it. It will keep you protected from being compelled."
Caden looked down at the bracelet, not being able to keep the smile of his face. "Thanks."
"Here, let me put it on." Stefan grabbed the bracelet back before placing it over the other boys wrist. "There. All safe now."
Caden nodded his head and looked up, out of the corner of his eye he saw Elena and Caroline walking across the yard but they were both looking towards him and Stefan. Elena looked to be upset.
"Elena's looking at us." Caden mumbled. "I should go."
"Me and Elena aren't together, Caden." Stefan said.
Caden looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. "You aren't."
"No, no we aren't. We haven't been together for a few weeks now, since she found out I was a vampire." Stefan continued. "We've just been in this weird place."
"And I've only just messed it up more when she found out about me and Matt."
"You didn't mess anything up." Stefan stressed. "Me being a vampire isn't the only reason we didn't get back together."
Caden snapped his head up to see Stefan staring at him. He gulped, his eyes darting to the side to see Elena still staring at them. "Are you going to the dance tonight?" He changed the subject.
"I wasn't sure, do you want me to come?"
Of course Caden wanted him to come, was that even a real question. "It's your choice but... I'd like to see you there."
Stefan smiled at him.

"I can't believe you're adopted. I never saw that coming." Bonnie said as she and Elena sat down at a table at the Grill.
"And it gets weirder. I looked at my birth certificate. It lists Miranda and Grayson Gilbert as my birthparents. None of it makes any sense."
"Which is why you should ask Jenna." Bonnie said and Elena groaned. "First of all, the Elena I know would always want the real truth, good or bad."
