Never Meant To Be (Palladium x Avalon)

This takes place after Winx Club Comic Issue 125: The Kingdom of the Dark Elves. So right after season 6. When Selina turned good.

Palladium had never thought his relationship with Athris would end so soon. Especially since she had only returned two week ago thanks to the Winx. 

It's not what he wanted, neither was it what Athris did, but they both knew that it's what's best for the both of them. 

Palladium remembered that fateful night in Elven Kingdom. The last night before Palladium would return back to Alfea. 

He had just arrived back at his house where Athris was sitting down patiently in their house waiting for him just as she used to do.

(Idk if Athris has her own house or not. There's literally only one comic to get information from. Also, do Winx Club characters have last names? Like just for any character in general)

"Palladium we need to have a talk" Athris stated in her calm voice as always. She may have been calm, but the expression on her face said otherwise. It look almost as if she was scared, nervous, kind of like she was forced.

"Of course. What is it?" Palladium asked sitting down across from her. "You're going back to Alfea tomorrow. I think maybe we should...you know" She said, there it was. The quiver in her voice. Palladium could tell she was unsure about this.

Palladium wanted to ask why, but he already knew. He wanted to say they should, but he just couldn't. They both knew what would happen by the end of the conversation. And in the end. It did happen. Palladium and Athris ended, Palladium left and Athris stayed in Elven Kingdom.

Even now, as much as it hurts, Palladium knew that was the right decision to make. He will be forever thankful to the Winx for bringing her back, but it was never meant to be.

The past week ever since Palladium came back, he's been super glum. Just staying in the teacher's dormitory(Not sure if that's a thing), by himself, not talking to anyone. No matter how hard anyone tries. 

He hasn't shown up to classes, poor Flora had to teach all the students by herself. Of course with the help of Selina, but the students still didn't trust her. They kicked Selina out of the classroom, Flora had to calm everyone down, and they hadn't done much that class.

The teachers have tried to cheer Palladium up. The students have tried to cheer him up. Even the pixies made a special trip to Alfea just to surprise him. It still didn't work. Poor pixies. They were so sad when it didn't work. Some of them even started crying.

Somehow. Even though Palladium didn't want to talk to anyone. Somehow. Avalon had convinced Palladium to come on a walk with him. Like no kidding. Avalon just talk to Palladium, and then next thing you know, Palladium agreed. 

He didn't even agree to come outside and watch the puppet show the pixies were performing.

 They had to fly the stage up to show him, and half of them fell to the floor after Livy accidentally crashed into Jolly and Jolly's cards went all over to place causing Glim(From Winx, not PopPixies) to get distracted and nearly drop her corner of the stage she was holding up. 

And poor Kiko who was in the center of the stage would have been falling through the air if Cherie hadn't been able to save him. She was struggling to pull him up.

Palladium didn't know why, but he just agreed to go with Avalon. Without thinking, and for some reason he felt he had made the right choice. 

They walked through the forest looking for new plants and other things that fascinated the both of them. Just like they had done four years ago, only this time they weren't searching for anything in particular.

(I know that was the fake Avalon. I think. But still, just pretend that it was the real one. I  honestly don't even remember anymore)

"Hey, are you feeling better?" Avalon asked Palladium. At these words, he knew. He had been set up. Without thinking, Palladium got up and left running deeper into the woods. 

Avalon watched as Palladium's shadow disappeared. He wanted to go after Palladium, but, he didn't. He just sat on a rock looking at the trees Palladium had disappeared through, hoping Palladium would come back. He didn't. 

Avalon waited for hours. One hour. Two hours. Three hours. Not getting up from that rock.

Finally went the sn finally started to set, Avalon started looking for Palladium. Luckily for him, he didn't have to look far. Palladium hadn't run very far, just to the edge of a cliff where he sat on a rock looking over the rest of the forest.

"Palladium?" Avalon said really quietly, lowering his voice, Palladium didn't say anything. "Sorry if I upset you" Avalon apologized. Palladium didn't say anything. Avalon sat beside Palladium, both of them not saying anything to each other.

They just both sat in silence watching the sunset, neither one of them noticed, but they linked fingers. This was the start of something new.
