chapter 2

present:

The birds singing did not wake me up today unfortunately, i hardly got any sleep

the letter was the only thing on my mind all night long.
Who sent it?
Why did they send it?
Was it a mistake?
And the most important question, was i going to go?

Ugh.
Anyone would die for an invitation to the Astors annual ball where all royalty and elite from Astrobis and neighbouring lands were invited, I guess this could be a chance to find someone, to get out of the shell i had put over myself after what happened that night.

FLASHBACK FROM 3 YEARS AGO:

'' No...Noo Please, P..please just go you shouldn't be doing this, your marrying my goddamned Sister tomorrow just go.'' I sputtered out while my sisters soon-to-be husband had got me cornered outside our house.

''Ive seen the way you look at me emeli, you look far more interesting then your sister''Orion breathed down my neck
'' P..Please orion, please just let me go'' i whimpered while he dug his nails farther into my neck

'' If only your father gave me you instead, but sadly your not a virgin, What a disgrace to your family you are '' he growled whilst trying to rip my dress off. His breath was a mix of alcohol and the scent nearly made me throw up.

''HELP! Somebody help me , Plea-'' i Screamed but didn't manage to get all the words out before he covered my mouth with one hand while attempting to drag my underwear off

''STOP  GET OFF ME'' I bellowed into the silent air.
The ground shook, i could of swore i saw a ripple of light leave my mouth as it shot into the air and lit the sky alight.

''Wh, What are you?..'' orion had suddenly paused as the lightning from me had struck him in the face and blood was gushing from the open wound

Peering down at my hands they were glowing, so were my eyes and it looked like i had been dipped into a star, my whole body was releasing a slight hum while the power grew, and grew.

''Maybe its karma orion, Karma for all the fucking twisted things you've done ur whole life'' i sneered down at him while giving him a kick in the stomach.
As soon as i saw he was unconscious i ran and ran into the forest.

Panting and sweating i was out of breath and the adrenaline had worn down.
I was bleeding.
A large graze across my stomach and bruises and scratches all over myself. I looked horrible.

My knees gave up under me and i fell to the ground. Everything went black then i heard footsteps and a hypnotising voice near me.

'' Shhhhh its okay, everything will be alright'' a voice whispered down at me and picked me into his masculine arms then we shot out for the sky...

the next morning i awoke in a lush palace, my room was modest but utterly beautiful, The bed was a 4 posted oak bed which had vines wrapped around it and small balls of starlight lighting it up, 2 curtains were posted on either side of the bed but they were pinned back.

While examining the room i didn't realise there was a nurse next to me.
''Wh-Where am i?' i whispered

''your safe, thats all that matters. You were found by Adrian and brought to the palace. You were in terrible shape last night but we managed to get you better'' the nurse smiled down at me
Her eyes were soft, looked like they had lived a happy life . The smile lines by each corner of her mouth were visible and slight wrinkles across her face. Her golden complexion glowed in the morning sunlight.
She stroked my head and got up.

'' Ive left your breakfast here.Lord astor will be with you when your done.'' She nodded and smiled while leaving the room

Wait.
Lord?
Lord Astor?
The richest land owner, business man in Astrobis. What the hell am i doing in Astrobis.

Last nights memories flooded back.
Disgusting memories which made my jaw clench, Memories i vowed to forget and not let them affect me anymore.

The breakfast which had been left out for me consisted of Fried egg, some sort of grilled meats, olives, a variety of cheese, every type of bread you could imagine and jugs of milk , juice and water.
The scent engulfed my senses. This was the first proper breakfast i had ever had.
My family back home didnt have money to spare on fancy foods. We were simple people who only ate when necessary.

My parents only goal was to raise their 2 daughters and set them out for marriage as soon as they were 16.
But for me i had my innocence stolen when i was 15 .

I had left my house to go pick up some food at the market when one of the local boys,
I didn't even know his name.
He grabbed me and pulled me into a nearly bush and robbed me of my innocence.

Once word had spread around town that Emeli bancroft, had lost her virginity . My parents found out and were extremely disappointed with me.
No one wanted me anymore.
The boys wouldnt even look my way.

I quickly went back to eating my breakfast and i gulped it down in five minutes.
I wore the simple gown left at the leg of my bed and freshened up in the bathroom.
A knock at the door was heard and i spoke
''Come in''

Lord Astor walked in.
His power and money were shown in the way he did everything. The way he spoke, walked and even looked.
He pointed his head towards a table in the room and so we both sat.

The wrinkles around his blue eyes tightened as he peered at me.
''For some reason my son found you in the forest and he decided to bring you back here'' He spoke with utter arrogance.
''And i guess i cant send you back to whatever dump you came from, i suppose you can join the maids.''

''You will work 5 days a week and you will be paid with a place to live, food and clothing. When not working you can walk around the palace or do whatever you females enjoy doing'' He spoke then paused and started again.

'' Its a thing we have here at Astor Manor, you will be required to wear a mask across your upper face, revealing only your eyes when cleaning. This is for you own safety.'' He grumbled while getting up to leave the room.

'' Thank you for this, for giving me a job and thank you to your son for bringing me here. I hope i get to see him so i can thank him. I whispered while bowing in respect.
He simply nodded and left the room.
