Chapter One
"The third love is the one we never see coming. It's the one we never see coming. It's the one that comes dressed all wrong for us. It destroys any ideas that we clung to about what love is supposed t be. It's the love that is just right."
"Chloe wore a ring into the floor." Bella says.
"Bella." Her mother says.
"Three months in Juvenile Detention. Probation until next September."
It is as though everybody lets out the breath they'd been holding all at once.
Jason is anything but thrilled and takes off. Mom and Anna go to start dinner.
After dinner Bella and I go back to my room.
"It won't be so bad."
"I just got you back. This blows." I lay on the bed.
"Chlo, it's three months. You'll be busy anyway."
"Right, with my meetings and therapy."
"Go out! You are ridiculous."
"Out there? No I think I'm good. It never does end well."
"I'm back to kick your ass so it will be okay."
"So, how are things with Jason exactly?"
"He reminds me everyday that he hates me."
"I'm sorry Bell's."
"I get it, I created chaos."
"Awhile ago I would have had no problem agreeing with that but, how we all reacted was on us and eventually he will see that."
"How are you really doing Chlo?"
I close my eyes and I am in my yard again.
'This isn't about sex anymore! You watched me grieve, try to take my life, and never thought to tell me she wasn't dead! Never did it cross your freaking mind! That is why I will never trust you again Aspen. GO HOME!"
"Fine." I say.
"you miss her."
"She wasn't who I thought. So, no."
"Everybody lies Chlo."
"It's done with."
"Okay."
"Let's get some sleep."
"You sleep beside her without trusting her not to burnt he house down or drug you?" Jason says walking by.
