My name is Fay. Fay Tabithan. Im a 10th grader at Juvile high school and i think ive had the weirdest experience in the world.
But we're way ahead of ourselves, lets start from the beginning
There i was, sat in the classroom. Ms.Marianne was droning on about the newest essay assignment she was going to put on google classroom by the end of the week. I pulled up my mask as little miss popular went and passed around the instructions the teacher printed out. She bumped into me and said
"oops! Sorry Fay!"
She smiled at me sweetly but i knew under all that she was secretly an evil witch. I just couldnt prove it yet..
Around the class a multitude of thanks and thank you's could be heard, and once everyone got a paper Pheobe sat down and gave a thumbs up to the teacher letting her know everyone was set.
"Alright class.." the teacher began reading over the instructions she had given us, and i decided to read ahead.
"You will write to a random place for one week, and make a friend with a person from a different country."
I almost groaned out loud. I hate having to talk to other people, i seriously wanted to get up and leave the classroom that instant.
"Any questions?"
I raised my hand and she nodded in my direction.
"Why the hell do we have to do this?"
She seemed stunned until she shook her head and rolled her eyes, turning back to the rest of the class.
"Does anyone else have a question?"
Many hands shot up and i had to listen to all their dumb questions while i waited for the next instruction.
~slight time skip~
"Alright friends, now we're going to be choosing where our letters are going to. Of course some of you will get repeats, and others are going to get very exotic places! Now as i come around please close your eyes and reach into the hat, then pull out one slip. Please keep it folded until i go back to the front and call on you one by one to tell me which place you got."
Everyone took a slip as she came around, and some people very obviously had pre-looked at their sheets. I watched as people grabbed slips and waited with anticipation for her to call on them. Many people were really excited for this. I dont know why.. this was going to be torture.
When the hat came around to me i used one hand to shield my eyes and another to pick out a slip. I set said slip on my desk and waited for the teacher to call me
As we went around people called out their countries excitedly. Abraham got Egypt, another person got France, another got china, another got india. Little miss pheobe got Germany. the teacher wrote down each person next to a certain address
Then it came back around to me. I shakily opened my slip and stared at the paper.
"Britain." I said after a moment.
A few snorts came from the class, and the teacher scribbled down my name next to my pen pals adress.
BRIIIIIIING
"Class dismissed! I'll email you your addresses! And Dont forget that you need to write your first letter tonight!!" She shouted loudly as everyone rushed to leave the class, but everyone was too excited to care what she was saying.
I slightly ignored her and walked out of the class with my bag, waiting for the crowd to clear a bit so i could get outside to my moms car.
"FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"
Suddenly my best friend crashed into me. I felt his soft brown skin clash with my rough pale skin, and suddenly me, him, and our books were in a giant heap on the tile floor.
I groaned loudly and assumed a fetal position, pulling my hoodie strings so the hood would close over my face and hoping i didnt get trampled while Jordan scrambled to pick up our books. He then picked us both up and smiled awkardly, handing me my bag.
We began walking and he started telling me all about his day, performing wild gestures and almost hitting people about three times. Then we walked across the street and he ended his little performance, waving to me and climbing into his dads car. He was probably going to perform the same thing for my dad. He's a very expressive person.
I eventually made it to my moms car and as i climbed in she immediately asked about the assignment.
"Honey, when are you gonna start that writing assignment?"
"I dunno.. probably later.."
"Well i want you to do it when we get home."
I groaned loudly as i heard my mom buckle her seatbelt and start the car.
"This is so stupid! Why do i have to talk to some weirdo from another country!"
"Fayah! Dont you take that tone with me."
I rolled my eyes and she started backing out of her cramped parking spot.
"Well i was going to let you snack on something before your little letter but now i dont think i will."
She started driving and i put in my earbuds to save myself from the stupid classical jazz my mom was going to play. As we drove home i thought about what i was going to say to this person. What were they going to say back?
'Oye! ello! by golly what a jolly day we're having today in bri'ain, i spared myself a few quid to get the newest issue of largest twats daily!"
I snickered to myself. Maybe this wouldnt be too horrible, but i still wasnt looking forward to it.
