POV: Ali

I knew it was coming, Halsey and I agreed this relationship was not going to be a long one. Added to that Scarlett finally announced that she and Romain were no longer together.

"Are you sure you wanna end it now? You don't want to wait a few weeks?" I offered, looking at my soon to be ex-girlfriend.

"You aren't actually in love with me, and I'm falling for someone else. Do you really want to continue this relationship when neither of us are actually into it?" She argued gently. "I'll always love you, Ali, just not as a lover."

"Same, Hals... same." I agreed, pressing a kiss to her forehead and taking a breath. "So how do you wanna do this?"

"I have the perfect photo for Instagram and I can repost it on Twitter. The press will get a hold of it soon enough. Just don't pull a Taylor and write some horrible break up song about this."

"I promise I won't. You won't, right?" I laughed.

"No break up songs from me either." It was agreed.

The photo was one that I took of her, silhouetted in the moonlight. The caption was simple. "Sometimes, things just don't work out."

I posted a photo of me looking out to the ocean, my feet buried in the sand of the beach; with a caption of "It hurts, but it will be better eventually."

No blame was laid, no other comments were made. It took 10 minutes for everyone to start questioning everything.

"So, seeing as everyone is questioning it, do you want to do a Live to answer some questions?" I asked, looking at her. "Our last Live together for a while?"

"Sure. We just gonna say that we realized we were better as friends?"

I nodded, pulling her into a hug. "Despite everything, I'm glad we did this."

"So am I."

Ten minutes later, we started the live, shoulder to shoulder as viewers began streaming in. After greeting a handful of people, we looked at each other and nodded.

"So I'm sure that everyone has seen the posts from the two of us by now." I started, shifting in my seat. "Upon a discussion and mutual agreement..." I looked at Halsey, who picked up from here.

"We decided that we were better as friends and have broken up." She finished, patting my arm gently.

"There's no bad blood, nothing like that guys. Just understand, we still care about each other, we just aren't in love with each other." I could see the questions flooding the comments. "Yes we are still friends."

"No, I won't be writing a song about the break up." Halsey answered, with a soft laugh. "I don't really do that."

"No we will not be releasing details about our break up aside from this live."

The questions continued for a good twenty minutes before we both decided this was enough.

"Alright guys, thanks for joining us, remember to respect each other and there's no hate or anger in this break up." I finished, looking at Halsey to see if she had anything to add. Before she could speak up, I caught sight of a specific comment from a specific user.

What's Scarlett doing watching the live? I looked at Halsey to see if she caught sight of the comment, and she was already looking at me with a questioning look. I shrugged and ended the live.
