It was a sunny afternoon when Izuku realized he was never going to be the same as others.

He was quirkless.
He was weak.

Defenseless Izuku stood in front of another child, that seemed to be a bit older than him and taller, but not all that different.

It was another quirkless kid.

"Why are you being so mean? Your making him cry Kacchan!"

Izuku was struggling to hold his ground due to the tears that he was desperately holding back. His whole body was shaking but he couldn't afford to back down.

Not when there was another kid just like him involved.

Izuku raised his fist with a determined look and held his ground.

And just like that Izuku was now laying on the dirt that he once was standing on. His body was sprawled  as if he was some carpet and the only movement letting you know he was alive was the slow rising and lowering of his stomach.

Blood trickled down his nose and scratches covered his face. There was a bit of blood from his lip, which he could slowly feel the throb of pain increasing, leaked into his mouth. It tasted metallic and foreign. Izuku had never really tasted blood before, I mean he bit his tongue a few times and sucked on his tiny scratches but there was more blood than that. He wanted to gag or throw up but he couldn't.

Sure, Izuku had been tossed around by Katsuki before, but this was different.

Izuku was helpless, the other kids holding him still as Katsuki struck him.

Despite this fact,

Izuku was proud.

He stood up against Kacchan.

He saved another person.

The black eye, blooding nose, swollen lips, and every other aching pain on his body didn't matter.

Izuku was proud.

From afar this all may have seemed like something so disturbing most people would have called the cops on a child or just intervened themselves.

But not him.

He watched.

He watched and grinned in delight.

Everything was according to plan.

The next day, little Izuku woke up from the comforts of his bad with a very sore jaw and headache.

He remembered what had happened last night when he walked into the door looking like a had just got into a fight with a bear.

"Hi Izuku, I was wonderi- IZUKU!?"

Inko turned the corner of the room as she dried off her hands. She was focused mostly on the rag that she was drying her hands off with but when she looked up, she didn't know what she expected to see.

She slowly walked to him then quickly leaped towards him crouching to wrap him in a tight hug.

Izuku didn't budge, but Inko let him go and started running her hands all over his face frantically, while simultaneously asking a million questions.

Inko pleaded for Izuku to tell her what happened but all Izuku would say was,

"I fell."

Desperately trying to get an answer, Inko tried to ask again.
