After my parents got a divorce my mom hasn't been the same. She locks her self in her room and watches "The Notebook" on repeat all day crying.
Every time I go to check on her she's on the phone with her friend Rose crying and explaining everything that has happened. I never met Rose, the only thing I know is she lives in a town called outer banks with her rich husband and stories about there wild adventures together.
I was laying down in the living room watching "New Girl" when my mom came running in.
"Y/n, me and Rose have been talking for a while now and she thinks we should move to outer banks" she said jumping with excitement.
"You're joking right" I said confused.
"No I'm not joking y/n, this could be good for us"
"Mom, how could moving to outer banks be good for us" I said in a frustrated tone.
"I already bought a house, it's right down the street from Rose and her husband"
"You already bought a house!" I yelled.
"Y/n don't give me any shit" she said with anger in her voice. "We are moving and that's final"
She walked away before I could say anything back. Moving would mean I would have to start over, make new friends, and be the new girl at school.
It's been a couple hours since me and my mom last talked. She's been putting everything in boxes. Her room and half the living room is already packed up and sitting by the front door.
"So we're really leaving" I said looking at my feet trying to not make eye contact with my mom.
"Yes y/n and please I don't feel like fighting, so can you please help me" she complained.
"Have you even spoken to dad, what doe-" I was cut off before I could finish.
"I don't care what your father has to say, I really don't, he can say whatever he wants, at the end of the day you live with me so wherever I go you go" she ranted.
"Ok mom I'm sorry" I apologized.
I started helping my mom get everything into boxes. I tried to look on the bright side of moving but I just couldn't. My mom seemed really happy to get away and start fresh. She deserved to be happy so if it means I have to change my whole life then I'll do it.
Everything was packed and ready for us to leave tomorrow. It was getting late so I decided to try and get some sleep. I tossed and turned all night from just the thought of not saying goodbye to my friends.
I finally shut my eyes and went to bed.
"Get up, get up, rise and shine. Come on we gotta go" my mom yelled while jumping on my bed.
"Mom what time is it" I said in a raspy voice.
"Time to get your ass up" she laughed.
I grabbed my phone and checked the time, it was 6:00 am.
"It's to early for this" I yelled covering my face with a pillow.
I tried going back to bed, when I felt my foot being pulled off the bed, making me fall to the ground.
"What was that for" I complained.
"Had to get you out of bed one way" she laughed walking out my door.
I got up off the floor, did my morning routine, and got dressed.
I walked out my room and seen the whole house empty. It felt weird, like I never lived here. Leaving the only home I've ever known breaks my heart. And what makes it even more sad is my mom, she didn't even look a tiny bit sad.
