How can you miss someone you've never seen?
Oh, tell me are your eyes brown, blue, or green?

Mason sighed as he laid his phone on the table, causing Ben and Declan to look at him.

"What's gotten into him?" The Chelsea left-back couldn't help but ask, looking at Declan, who was sipping his drink

The West Ham player shrugged. "Girls problem."

"Bro, did you find a girl?" Ben couldn't help but tease Mason, giving him a little pat on his back.

"The girl who called you Bench Chilwell." Declan explained, not being able to hide a laugh, causing Ben to shot him a dirty glance.

The twenty two years old player looked both his friend and sighed again. "I haven't heard from her in two days."

"Why don't you just write her?" Ben said as it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Yeah, why didn't Mason write her? That was surely a good question. He wanted to, like really bad, but he didn't want to sound too into her.

Crazy, innit.

Even crazier was the fact that he found himself thinking about Claire more than he wanted to admit, and, considering that he had absolutely no idea of how she looked like, that worried him a bit.

How could he miss someone so much and such a little amount of time?

Over the last few days he created few images of Claire. Dark eyes, dark hair, blue eyes, green eyes, or any kind of colour. In the end he chose to picture her with red hair and brown eyes, because of her temperament.

She never gave him any help about her appearance, so in the end, for what he knew, she could also reveal to be a catfish.

"Earth calling Mount!" Ben bought him back from his trance by throwing some chips at him.

"I'm here, I'm here!" The Chelsea midfielder shook his head, shooting Ben a dirty glance. "What were you saying?"

"Why you didn't write her." Declan repeated, getting more interested in what looked like to be a somewhat of a love problem.

"I didn't want to bother." Mason simply replied. "She could have written too, you know."

"She wrote you twice in a row for first." Declan pointed out, causing Ben to nod in agreement. "That was your turn."

"Since when is it all a turn matter?" Mason rolled his eyes, but understanding what his best friend was trying to say. He took a deep breath. "Am I crazy for this?"

"Crazy, I don't know." Ben chuckled. "Stupid? Definitely. But Mase, dude, we all go stupid when in love."

"Who said I am in love?" Mason protested. "Yeah, I may have a little crush on an unknown girl, but I'm surely not in love!"

Another thing that Mason did not admit to anyone, was that he found himself searching for a Clair through his Instagram followers. He found a lot of people called Claire, and one of them actually had red hair, but he just couldn't follow everyone of them.

"Whatever you say, Mase." Declan giggled, taking a sip of his drink. "But I was like this when I firstly met Lauren!"

Mason was about to reply, when a blonde haired girl approached their table, another girl following her. She had a smile on her face. "Uhm, excuse me for bothering..."

"You are definitely not bothering!" Ben flashed her a smile, looking at the girl in front of him with a smirk.

The girl let out a giggle, her blue eyes moving also to Mason and Declan. "Mind if I ask for a photo?"

Claire couldn't really believe that she was standing in front of three footballers, hell, she couldn't even believe she was really in the same place as them. She had to ask to her best friend, Lily, if that was all real or just a dream.

"Sure!" Declan Rice shot her a smile, making her take out the phone and hand it to Lily, who just smiled shyly and limited to take the pictures.

After taking the first photo with Declan, Claire turned to Ben, feeling her cheeks on fire. "Chilwell, I must say sorry for calling you Bench Chilwell." She chuckled. "But Tuchel didn't let you play and I took the assist."

"Bench Chilwell?" The Chelsea left-back shared a look with Mason, for then bursting out in laughter. "Oh, you're the one who gave me this iconic nickname!" He then kept saying, making up a story. "Uhm, I read it on the web."

"Oh... didn't guess I could be that famous for a nickname." Claire laughed too, for then taking a photo with the defender.

Once it was Mason's turn, Claire couldn't hide a smile. Her mind flying to what she considered now her online best friend. She only imagined how he would have reacted when she would have told him that she met his idol, and some other cool players.

On the other side, Mason understood from that 'Bench Chilwell' that the girl standing in front of him was the Claire he was looking for.

After taking a photo, Claire grabbed her phone from Lily's hand and looked at Mason, a grin on her face. "Mount, my online best friend is such a big fan of you, would you mind if we make a little short video for him?"

A video for myself? Interesting that was Mason thought. He cleared his throat and smiled at the blonde girl. "Sure."

"Fantastic!" She giggled, starting to record. "Hey, Mason fanboy, I'm Claire, don't get too excited when seeing my face. Anyway, look who I ran into tonight! Your idol Mason Mount! Mason, say hi to Mason!"

Mason let out another laugh, and so did also Ben and Declan. "Hi Mason, nice to know you're a fan!"

And after some few sentences, Claire ended the video and turned to face the footballer. "Thank you, really!"

"It has been fun." Mason reassured her with a smile.

With one last smile, Claire waved her hand at the three players before returning to her table, with Lily who shyly waved her hand too.

"Mason." Declan stated. "Why didn't you tell her? Damn, don't tell me you didn't understand because also me and this stupid ass of Chilwell understood that she is your online crush!"

"I'm not a stupid ass!" Ben argued. "But, seriously, Mason, if you don't go for her, I'm going."

"Don't you dare." Mason shot Ben a dirty glance, before looking at Declan. "I did, don't you worry. I am finding the right moment to tell her, or do you think that she would have believed me if I told it now?"

Declan looked thoughtful for a while, but in the end he nodded. "Makes sense."

"Trust me, I know what I am doing." Mason smirked, his dark eyes landing on the blonde girl sitting two tables away, laughing with her friend.

His Claire.

Different kind of chapter, but they finally met without even knowing.💀💀

And, plus, I am still not over the fact that Declan had his first beer against the match against Hungary, and we are the same age!!😭😭

Enjoy.
