Ajax

The first explosion wasn't enough to wake me, but when the second hit and my entire room shook, I immediately shot up from my bed and started running towards the door. I grabbed my gun, threw the armor vest over my shoulders, smashed the panic button on the wall of my room. Then I immediately made my way to help students down to the bunkers below the facility. When I ran out into the hallway, it was already filled with students and teachers alike. Everyone was running around in a panic. Some professors and instructors were doing their best to keep everyone calm and try to organize the chaos. Unfortunately, it was having a minor effect.

I picked the microphone off the wall and pressed down on the button on the side of the mic. "I need all students to make their way in an orderly fashion to the simulation training room. There is a bunker beneath it, and this is where we will be safe until we can assess the situation. Please don't worry about grabbing any belongings, just make your way to the bunker calmly and safely." I let go of the button and saw the students making their way to the simulation room.

I knew that there were going to be students that were so exhausted that they slept through the explosions. The sound of the alarm blaring through the facility was already waking some of them. I went and knock on every door along the hallway, anyway. I heard only a few students in their rooms throughout the entire hallway. Getting them out as quickly as possible is essential. I shouted the same instructions I gave over the mic into their rooms and then moved on to the next door. About ten minutes I cleared every room along the hallway. All the instructors knew they were to do the same along their hallways. All students should be able to make it to safety, even if a few of them arrived a little injured.

Feeling satisfied that I cleared the hallway after seeing the last student disappear around the corner, I went and grabbed the rest of my gear from my room and quickly dressed in full armor, got prepared to make sure that the rest of the halls were clear. I knew this was going to happen. Many of the executives knew this was going to happen. No one did anything. I was powerless to do anything myself and would have been silenced if I spoke out. I'm just hoping that the secrecy would not lead to unnecessary loss of life.

Now that I was fully stocked up, I was ready to face anyone that breached the building. They hypothetically shouldn't be able to get in. The shields will last for a longer, and that should be enough time to get everyone to the bunker and prepare to mount a counterattack. The thing that the other higher ups here haven't considered is how capable our enemy is going to be. They have been waiting for almost a hundred years to prepare for this. They could be the end of Trident. Hell, they could be the end of Eden.

I brushed the thought off as quickly as it came. We were going to be okay. We were prepared and should be capable of doing what is necessary to survive. I needed to talk to James. He is going to play a very important role in all of this, and he does not know. There is a lot that I need to tell him. With the world crumbling around us, there shouldn't be a reason that I can't tell him now. They knew what he was going to need to do. They also know what it means if they don't get him up to speed quickly enough.

I rounded the corner to the hallway next to mine and saw a John Evergreen hustling students to the simulation room. He gave me a nod, and I knew he would handle the rest of this hall. I went to the medical hallway and saw med students grabbing medical supplies. I wanted to stop them and tell them not to waste any time, but I also knew that we would need a great number of those supplies and letting them go to waste wasn't worth it. There was no talking them out of it, either. If they could help save lives, they were going to do it. It made me proud and sad at the same time. They shouldn't need to be doing this, but I am glad that they are.

The last hallway to check was the military hall. This is where James, Rex, Maya, and Rose should be. They didn't all live in that hallway, but they were all doing simulation training last night and James told me they were just planning on crashing in the common room. They wanted to get some studying done, or they were just hanging out, or something. I couldn't remember. Hopefully, they were off somewhere else. Hopefully, they were closer to the bunker than I thought and they were already in it, or at least about to join the first wave of students.
