I awoke to the sounds of rumbling above us. In the three days since the initial attack, they hadn't let up at all. The constant barrage of damage that was being done to the building wouldn't let up for quite some time, I imagine. There was little chance that we were going to be able to move forward with our plans as quickly as we planned. The bunker and the shields surrounding it remained strong and intact. I checked on James and the rest of his group on the cameras every day.
I hoped we could soon actually travel to other parts of the facility. Not walking the school every day was strange not only for myself, but everyone else here. There were defensive measures that were in place that the technological department was working on every day. They said that the idea was to knock the group back and throw up a super shield that killed anyone left in the area that wasn't Trident. After they were killed, or pushed back, we could emerge and start doing some of the many tasks that would have to be done.
The first would try to clear as much of the rubble finding our missing. Then we would need to bury our dead. After that, we would start doing everything we could possibly do to fight back. There wasn't anyone down here that wasn't ready to do that, however, there were things that needed to be done first. The tasks were endless. There is no way that we will get them all done before pushing back, but we needed to try as best we could. The most important of which was having the shield ready to use.
The last time that I went to check on the progress, they said that they were probably about three days away from having it prepared. That amount of time would allow us to compose ourselves and prepare. The biggest thing that we were told to do right now was rest. Everyone would need as much energy in the coming weeks and months, and this was the only chance we were likely to get to sit and rest.
Unfortunately, it wasn't always possible. There was so much planning to be done. All the leaders, trainers, and professors at the school were always doing something. We were either planning what to do, helping trainees, or trying to keep everything functioning like the well-oiled machine that Trident was before the attack. The noise didn't help with our desire to rest, either. The shaking of the facility, Hydra above us, and the loss of so many people was a lot for many people to bear.
The Hydra came by once or twice a day to provide extra destruction to the facility. We were sure that most of the Trident was in ruins now. They were working their way into some of the larger cities and taking control there as well. There are three other external locations to Trident that hold soldiers, medical, and intelligence members. They all reported being attacked as well, and we were trying to coordinate a way to get out and make a push for control of the city as soon as possible.
The first facility was located on the coast next to Eden's only ocean. It was more of a beachfront fortress than anything. There were never any genuine threats from the water, but Trident wanted to be prepared for all possibilities. Their facility was also responsible for aquatic life research and underwater training. They reserved this for soldiers that climbed the ladder quickly and were qualified to receive this additional training. They didn't completely fall and used the underwater fortress as their place to hide. The Hydra, being able to swim, were still attacking them. Somehow, they were holding their own, anyway.
The second facility was located on the other side of the mountain range, right behind this facility. It seems like they should be close, but they are about 800 miles away from each other. The mountain range was insanely large front to back. The idea of having one on both sides was to be able to use the mountains as the high ground should we ever need to. Unfortunately, the Hydra seems to have made it their home.
The final facility was basically on the opposite end of the continent from our water base. They oversaw threats from the other coast but were placed more inland. There was a gigantic amount of land between them and the next facility, or city. Their purpose was to do weapons testing, and they held all the communication technology, resource gathering, and all our storage.
