Tears of agony pricked harshly at their eyes. Their body ached and screamed all over. They'd been missing for over a month. They'd been through hell and back. Twice. Scars littered their body as well as bruises and blood. Their muscles felt like they were on fire, whilst patches were in so much pain it felt like they were being stabbed by a scolding-hot needle in a patch of ice cold skin.
It was hard to see through the night, that pooled the area- creating distorted and terrifying figures that were supposedly trees. They could barely make anything out in the forest at night- and had to squint to navigate through the harsh wilderness.
However, the familiar cabins, that were climbing into view, encouraged them to carry on travelling despite their condition. They hated Slenderman, but the sight of the Proxy homes were relaxing. It was safer than Zalgo's lair; which was placed in a firey and intimidating land- presumably one that a human could not easily stumble across.
The first cabin they reached belonged to Tim and Brian; also known as Masky and Hoodie. Tim had dark brown hair with thick sideburns and soft, tired hues of a similar colour. The man was reserved and quiet, yet would speak up if needed. However, his partner, Brian, was his complete opposite. Brian was a blonde extrovert that would barely shut up- the class clown type.
Just at the thought of talking to them again made them weakly smile. Even if they didn't always get along, they were some of the friendliest faces they could come across.
Their hands gripped the wooden banister of the cabin's porch; pulling themselves at the door with all their might, stumbling into the wooden obstacle. They could only pray that they weren't on a mission.
Carelessly, they stumbled over to one of the window's at the front of the cabin, smacking their open-palmed hand against the glass. It hurt them to put so much power behind something so weakly protrayed. The noise wasn't enough. "Tim!" They called out; voice hoarse, "Brian!" Tears started to sting their eyes and fall down their dirtied cheeks. "P-Please." They stated, beginning to sob, quietly. Desperate. "P-Please guys." They added, through their cries. Their throbbing legs finally decided to give in, causing them to slide down to the porch.
Slowly, the door opened as their vision started to blur- everything faded to black.
The next morning, their eyes peeled open, laid upon a cheap and basically made bed. It was the empty room that once belonged to Tim. They made it...
“Hello?” They croaked out, as their eyes scanned the room of the cabin. Their vision was blurred, and they felt light headed- almost dazed.
Tim walked into the room, with a concerned look before giving them a soft smile, “Hey- it's a good thing you got here when you did, Kid.” He stated, causing Y/C's eyebrows to knit together. “We managed to patch you up, just in time, with the help of Jack. It's good to have you back.”
Y/C sighed softly, averting their gaze as their head rolled to the side. “How is everyone?” They asked with a croaky voice.
“Well, I've been the usual.” He mumbled, “Brian's missed you, same as Jack and Jane. Cody too.” Tim answered.
“And Toby?” They asked, looking back to him, raising an eyebrow.
Tim seemed a bit hesitant at their question. He sighed, “I'll go get you a drink, Kid.” He told them.
Before they could interupt him, the man got up and headed out of the room, closing the door behind him. They were left alone, in silence awaiting for the man to return, which luckily didn't take too long. He came in, sighing softly, "Look, kid, I know you're close to him but you need to focus on yourself."
Two weeks had passed. They were no long bed ridden, yet they still needed more time to properly heal up. During their time on bed rest, they'd had many visitors; Cody, Nina, Jane, Jasmine and Adam. Not to mention that Tim and Brian had been looking after them. However, no one had begun to mention Toby, nor did the man visit. And it was beginning to worry them.
It didn't take too much effort to convince Tim and Brian that they were leaving for a walk, which wasn't entirely wrong. Luckily the men's cabin wasn't too far away from Toby's, so it wasn't too far of a walk. When they reached the cabin, they carefully walked up the porch steps. Though, upon reaching the door their hand ghosted above it- not bringing themselves to knock on it.
