A Touch Of Love and Diamonds

Chapter 1

She was out of breath from running home, she has brought good news after being jobless for almost a year Vera finally got a call for an interview in one of the famous company of her city.. She stops at her doorstep for a big gulp of air then proceed to run inside.

Vera: Bella!!!!
Bella: what? why are yelling? do you know it's the middle of a hot afternoon?
Vera: Sorry, I was just excited
Bella: what for?
Vera: girl.. i just receive a very important call..
Bella: keep talking..
Vera: remember that time, when me and you were job hunting?
Bella: yeah so?
Vera: gurl.. Pacific Inc. Just called me and said that their expecting me for an interview tomorrow morning..
Bella: holy shit... Pacific Inc? are you sure..

Vera nodded barely keeping her excitement within

Bella: this calls for a celebration.. Dinner's on you..
Vera: me? but----
Bella: pls? I'm broke
Vera: so am I..
Bella: then let's get treated by that hot boyfriend of yours
Vera: what? Paul? Bel no.. He's also saving his money, i dont wanna drag him into this..
Bella: too late i Already called him.. he's on his way here
Vera: what? but how did you get his number?
Bella: ummmm.. I--- you gave it to me remember? you were drunk..
Vera: ok?
Bella: enough chit chat.. get dress he'll be here any minute..
Vera: k..

Vera ran to her room finding a nice dress to wear for dinner.. but as she goes through her closet, she still can't help to think about how her bestfriend got her boyfriend's number.. but as she put that thought aside, she continue to find the best outfit

(10mins later)
Paul: babe?!
Vera: I'm still preparing.. you can wait by the couch I'll be right down any minute..

Vera put her finishing touches then head downstairs to meet her boyfriend, her and Paul has been dating for quite sometimes now.. 3 months to be exact.. As vera and paul continues their relationship vera felt more inlove with him.. like dumbly -in love-love with him.. as she got downstairs she notice Paul is a bit quite as Bella exits the room
Vera:* peeps bella disappear by the corner* what was that about?
Paul: whatchu mean?
Vera: you're not a typical quite person.. how come you start being silent everytime I entered the room?
Paul: babe? Are you ok? Maybe you're just hungry Come on let's go to your fav restaurant.. my treat remember?
Vera: ok..
They all exit and got in Paul's car.. but vera still couldn't shake the feeling of oddness between bella and Paul..as they arrive in the restaurant Paul ordered Vera's favorite seafood dish.. as they continue to eat their attention was took to a nearby club.. At first Vera didn't agree cuz she wanted to be early  for her interview tomorrow but she was eventually convince by Bella.. there by the bar stand she drank her ass off without a care of where her boyfriend and best friend are.. As she chug her 6th glass of margarita she felt her environment swirl.. everything's turning into a big blur . She quickly gets up and look for Paul...since she couldn't find him she just walk outside  hoping to wait in his car.. she step inside and sat down laughing... When she turn to her right she saw a man sitting beside her
Vera: who the hell are you?what are you doing in my boyfriend's car?
Man: excuse me? This is my car..

Vera looks around and felt her cheeks turning red . She immediately exits without even saying sorry to the man

*The next morning.. at Pacific Inc.

Paul: goodluck ok? I love you
Vera: I love you too.. I'll see you later ok..*she kiss his cheeks*

(She watches as his car drove away and then she straighten her posture.  Looking for a mirror she slightly bend over to a car's window to look at herself.. she smiles at her reflection
Vera: you're so beautiful.. and you're gonna do great..

she pucker her lips preparing to kiss her reflection goodluck.. as she leaned in the window suddenly rolls down

Vera: ahhhhh... What the-- How long have you been to in there?
Man: long enough to see your ridiculous face🤣🤭
Vera: excuse me?! You are a very rude man you know that🙄🙄
Man: so I've been told😁
Vera: shithead 🙄

She walks away with a full sass attitude.. leaving the man in the car smiling.. as hours gone by.. Vera waited patiently for her turn

Vera: hey.. excuse me can you pls guard my envelope.. I just need to go in the restroom..
Woman: ok..

She scurry along the well polished floor and went to do her business.. she look at herself and repeated her answers, then went back out.. on her way to her chair she happens to bump to a familiar face

Man: well well if it's isn't Snow White
Vera: you're that rude car maniac😾😲..!!tsskk snow white really?
Man: what? you don't get it?

Vera stares at him blankly, still processing an answer

Man: so you don't get it.. ahahaha I thought you're way smarter.. I guess I thought wrong.. "Mirror Mirror"
Vera: ohhh..I--- I--- you know what.. to hell with you and your lame jokes..what are you doing here anyway?
Man: I kinda work here
Vera: you? Working here? Hahahahah boy please you a janitor or something?🤣
Man: well actually im--

Vera immediately shushed him, gesturing her hands to shut him up

Vera: I really don't have time to entertain people *looks at him up and down* like you so.. exsqueeze me..

She walks away yet again and went back to sit at the waiting room.. as the man stood there in the hallway still recovering of what just happened,he was approach by an employee

Man: is that woman bothering you Mr.Wilson?
Patrick: well actually... No she wasn't.. is she applying here?
Man: well yes sir.. why?
Patrick: get me her documents.. and tell everyone the interviews are over 😏😏
Man: yes sir..

Few hours later, everyone except Vera was sent home she remain calm and still waiting in the room

Woman: Mr. Wilson will see you now.. this way please
Vera: finally..

The woman led her into a beautiful office

Woman: wait here pls..
Vera: can I atleast sit down?
Woman: yes.. and pls don't touch anything

The woman exited as vera stood and look around at this  king-liked office

Vera: dang.. this looks like a master bedroom

She stroll around and took notice of small things.. she hasn't seen not even one photo of Mr. Wilson anywhere.. she stood bending a bit and holding this tiny figurine.. she glided her fingers on it and realized a piece of it fell off the floor

Vera: oh crap.. I broke it.. this is gonna cause me my budget 😬😬 maybe I can glue it back on.. orr..
Man: or you can just leave it alone

She froze as a strong masculine voice spoke behind her

Vera: Mr. Wilson I'm so sorry I didn't mean to--- you?! What the hell are you doing here? Wait I get it.. you're here to take his trash out..
Man: what?
Vera: you're a janitor remember?

The man simply smiles at her, as the woman behind him entered

Woman: Mr. Wilson you have a meeting tonight at 8:30..
Vera: Mr. Wilson?! As in like The owner of this company Patrick Wilson?!
Patrick: in the flesh 😏😏
Vera: nooooo .. I--- but I was so
Patrick: rude? Insensitive? Somewhat childish?
Vera: does that mean I don't get the job?🥺
Patrick: oh even better.. you're already hired😏
Vera: say what?
Patrick: starting tomorrow.. you must be here before 7, don't be late.. I don't like late assistants
Vera: assistant? Ummm
Patrick: what? Are you expecting to work in the mailroom? Hmmmm..  cute.. I'll see you tomorrow.. and next time think before you speak..you can go now

She nodded and immediately walked out the door

Vera: what the hell just happened?
