trouble in the thicket

I duck before he pulls the trigger, the shot just missing my head.

" if I have to ask again I will not hesitate." he mocks coldly.

stumbling down the hill I head towards the woods, I didn't take a second to look as I ran into the dark thicket, I continued to walk along the forest path, as the darkness continued to creep up on me stealing away the light. I look up again seeing a dome of light, keeping my eyes on the light, I picked up my pace. all my focus on the light I did not see the small cliff I was approaching. my eyes still trained on the light I ran right off the edge, plummeting down the side of the cliff by body slamming in rocks and ledges that decided to stick itself out further than the rest.

I finally hit the ground with a loud thump,  my body seared in pain. 

" damnit.." I groaned, attempting to get up a fiery pain spread across my body. My head going fuzzy, I bring a hand to my head retracting it, only for it to be covered in blood. I chuckle to myself amazed at my stupidity. Laying at the bottom of the cliff my laughter erupts breaking the utter silence in the forest. when my laughter subsides, my body runs on addrinaline, I slowly pick myself up, my body protesting my actions.

" Need some help?" A deep graveled voice came from above me.

" No, I'm just limping for the fun of it." I scoffed sarcastically at the voice.

" I saw you fall," The voice said again, " Im surprised your even couscous, let alone able to move." 

I see the figure to which the voice belonged go casually strut down the side of the cliff with ease.

" You know there were stairs right here right?" 

I look to where he was walking and reilized the things I had hit were the stairs. I mentally groan at myself for not being more aware.

" No I was to busy falling," I lowered my voice as he came closer.

He had long blonde hair that was a perfect length, his green eye glowed in the darkness. he wore a simple grey hoodie and black jeans. 

"Take my hand."

" No." 

" Look I'm not trying to ask you to Marry me, I'm just trying to help, take my hand damnit." He said rubbing his other hand over his face to cover his spreading smile.

" Hm."

" Comon we can go to my family's manor, its not far from here." He almost whispers smiling at me. " The names Enzo by the way." He says giving me a dashing smile.

" Rin." I mumble not bothering to smile.

he slides a hand around my waist and I slap it off.

"Jesus woman I'm trying to help lay off a bit." he snorts 

I don't say anything back but allow him to snake his arm around my waist again.

" sooooo what brings you over here?" 

" im not sure, nut I was on a hill and a guy kicked me off of it." I shrugged 

" oh well that's not very nice, we'll be at the house in just a bit hang on."

I chuckle to my self he acts like im Ganna die 

a huge manor comes into view, I halt astonished that this man called this a house.

" cat got your tongue? common Ran."

the large silver gate opens before us, the front lawn exploding in beautiful colors everywhere supported by the large clusters of flowers. the long drive way leading up to the house looked freshly paved. I let a sigh escape me that's such a far walk 

" up you go" Enzo lifts me into his arms.

"WOAH" I go to protest but my body won't let me, so I let him carry me up to the house, inside and lay me on the couch.

" ok so what hurts."

I scoff at him, " I just fell down.. what a 3 story cliff? and your asking me what hurts." he looks at me puzzled, ' everything hurts you dimwit!"

" alright alright, clam down." he huffs. 

I stay put while he goes and gets the med kit. before he's back the front door swings open, revealing him!

I push my body off the couch and stumble toward him.

"You! you rude egotistical bastard!"  I've almost reached him when the world starts to spin, I take one more step before darkness engulfs me and the coolness of the floor fights with the warmth of my body temperature.

"WHY DID YOU LET HER JUST FALL!" a voice shouts from above me.

"WHY SHOULD I HAVE COUGHT HER!?"

" because she's already seriously injured." Enzo almost whispered

"what do you mean?" the voice sounds exasperated.

" a guy, most likely YOU, didn't give her directions and she fell down a cliff."

" how is one so incompetent to fall down a cliff?" 

" im not sure but you could be nicer." 

" you know there's no room for kindness."
