Land of Taria: The Awakening

Chapter 10

A wave of blue flames comes hurtling towards the Grey Man. It travels right over the bubble currently protecting Matías and nearly hits the dark demon. He leaps out of the way and quickly runs through the gates, diving towards Jason. Jason quickly unsheathes his sword and deflects the Grey Man's attack. Their swords keep clashing and grinding against one another. Jason headbutts the Grey Man, making him stumble back. He lets out a painful groan.
"No human could ever hurt me. Who are you?" The Grey Man rubs his head.
Jason just stands there and glares at him.
"What's the matter? Too cocky to speak to your enemy?" The Grey Man taunts Jason, who spins his sword, ready to attack. The group sits there shocked, wondering if they have all witnessed the same thing.
"Jason... He should be dead." Ty'Vander says.
"No normal human could have survived that fireball spell." Autumn says.
"Not to mention that he suddenly has magic." Ty'Vander adds.
"What the hell is going on?" Matías wonders. Doruntus grunts and slams his fist into the barrier. He does so repeatedly and Jason turns to look at him.
"If you want the barrier to be put down, just ask." Jason waves his hand and the magical walls begin coming down.
"What happened to the creatures?" Ty'Vander asks.
"I think most of them were burned by Jason's attack." Matías notes.
"We should make sure everyone gets evacuated safely. Luna, stay with Jason if he needs back up." Luna nods towards Matías and the group runs off. They split off and begin clearing each house, killing any creatures they find. Luna turns back and watches as Jason kicks The Grey Man.
"You insolent creature. You dare defy me?"
"You sound pretty confident. Too bad your skills don't match your ego." Jason remarks.
"I'll make sure you suffer, boy." The Grey Man looks at Luna. "Starting with her."
He lunges towards Luna, who manages to block his strike.
Damn, he's fast, Luna thinks to herself. She feels her strength start to fade against the demon. She looks past him and watches Jason leap towards them. The Grey Man turns and smacks Jason away. He grabs Luna by the neck, lifting her high in the air.
"I'm not done with you yet." He says and Luna begins to feel her body float. She watches as the air around her turns red and filled with energy. She watches as Jason sprints towards her.
And then Luna disappears.

The group is helping the citizens get through the city safely. A demon jumps down from the roof and Ty'Vander sweeps its legs out with his tail, jamming his sword deep into the monster's heart. He looks up to see Matías escorting an elderly couple into a safehouse. Doruntus grabs a creature and slams it hard into the ground. The creature shrieks before he stomps on its face and the demon stops moving.
"Brutal." Ty'Vander throws a dagger at a demon, leaping off of it and landing next to Autumn.
"How many more people are left?" Autumn asks.
"I'm not sure. Matías is taking care of the left set with Doruntus. Just keep blasting away and I'll run into the houses." Ty'Vander sprints into a house as Autumn creates a create a shield around her as a demon lunges at her, bouncing off and landing on the floor. She creates a barrier around the demon and it starts to shrink. The creature tears its claws into the barrier but to no avail, as the magical prison shrinks and crushes the demon. A window shatters and Autumn looks up to see Ty'Vander being tackled by a demon. They hit the ground hard and the demon begins swinging at the pinned Ty'Vander. Autumn stabs her staff into the monster's eye, allowing Ty'Vander to roll out from under it.
"Gross." Ty'Vander says, wiping some orange blood of his face. Autumn shrugs and the two of them run off to help more people get to safety. They meet up with Matías and Doruntus.
"That should be everyone." Matías watches as demons chase civilians and some have bows ready.
"Autumn and Doruntus, I'm trusting you two to protect these people. Ty and I are gonna go help Jason."
"You don't think that he'll be ok?" Ty'Vander says as the demons shoot their arrows at the group, but Autumn's barrier protects them.
"I just got this feeling that whatever Jason is or what he is going through, he hid it for a reason. Nothing has changed, he's still our leader." Matías and Ty'Vander dart towards the demons and slaughter them all, heading towards the center of the town. Matías and Ty'Vander turn the corner and watch as Luna is lifted off the ground and a swirl of energy surrounds her and the Grey Man. The two of them disappear and the only thing remain are embers floating in the wind.
"LUNA!" Ty'Vander and Jason shout. Jason falls to his knees and Matías rushes over to him, grabbing him by the shoulders.
"Hey man, talk to me! Do you know where they went?" Matías looks at Jason, whose expression has gone cold with fear. Jason slowly looks at Matías before opening his mouth.
"Morosis. He took her to Morosis." Jason looks as the last ember floats to the ground, watching it die out and vanish.
