She left that early morning alone. She didn't allow me to drop her home nor did she give me her address or phone number. She told me that if she recovers, she will meet me. I waited for her every night at home for the next few days. But she didn't come. She kept her previous promise of not disturbing me ever again.
I started visiting hospitals then with the intention to look for her. I soon became a volunteer there. I started singing for the kids as well as sick people. And you know what, Khushi's words came true. I started healing seeing those smiles on their faces.
One day I came across a photograph of Khushi on the board of a hospital. It was written, 'In the memory of Khushi Chopra'.
I talked to a nurse there and she told me that Khushi was one of the most loved patients in that hospital. She had suffered a lot physically but mentally she was very strong and positive. She didn't survive the operation that day. It was a difficult one.
I was sad, my heart felt heavy. I really wanted her to be alive. Maybe we could have been something more.
But I didn't cry or break down on hearing it. I couldn't be the old me who got lost for his love. I knew I had feelings for her. Strange but true. However I wanted to stay happy for her.I looked up in the sky that night and saw a tiny star, twinkling. I knew it was her. I smiled at her and said thank you for meeting me.
My life has changed today. I don't drink anymore and neither do I roam the streets at night. I continue volunteering at a hospital in my free time. I play for patients to boost their spirits. And when I see a smile, I feel Khushi is patting my back.
I have a band today and we perform for charity shows. It has become quite popular among young people.
After the show I sit with friends telling them about her and the story of a night. I look at the sky again and see that tiny blinking star. I whisper,
One touch is enough to turn a mere stone to gold. Your touch, your entry in my life for a single night, changed my entire course of life. A girl who had nothing but pain inside her gave me the best gift of positiveness. You showed me the meaning of life. I am content in life, all thanks to you. I Love you Khushi.. And I really miss you..
