I didn't want to wake up today. I didn't want to get outta bed in the morning. I just wanted to stay in my warm, comfy, and cozy bed for the entire morning. Just listen to my music and continue my travels in dream land. However, fate had a different plan for me. I looked at the slats of the bunk bed above me. Small carvings scarred the wooden planks, and I was one of the boys who inscribed my initials into the wood above me. I put my hand over the carved wood. I smirked as my hand went over the two letters: C. W
Cheshire Winistin. It was the name I was given. My name is a pretty okay name, I wish it was like Jacob, Noah, or even Samuel. The grand origin of my name is this: the woman who runs this place, Ariel, decided to name me after her late cat. Pretty funny, huh? Hopefully when I get adopted I'll get my name changed. My fellow orphans, or brothers, call me Chessy short for Cheshire or Sprinkles, the name of her new kitten. If you must know, I like to be called Ches. Anyway I decided to rise outta bed, I yawn and stretch my arms as much as I can. I shared a room with a fifteen year old named Erwin. He got the top bunk because I wanted the bottom one.He was a punk rock type, but was a smart guy. He was like my tutor. He always gave me advice when I needed it. In short he was like my big brother. He was like family, maybe even closer to I'll ever get. I got out of bed and went to our dresser. It was 7. I threw on my shirt and put on my pants. Fridays were good days of course. I mean there's TGIF for a reason! I climbed to Erwin's bunk and shook him. "Hey. Erwin! Erwinnnnn." I whispered. He groaned. He turned his head to me. "Yo." He mumbled. "Come on dude, it's time to wake up." I informed. He started to rise from his bed. "Move over ya little weirdo." He said jokingly. I chuckled a little as I moved over. He went to the ladder and climbed down. He was thin, almost too thin and he was lanky. He had long black hair and he dyed a sliver streak and cool grey eyes. Like myself, he didn't know what happened to his parents. All he knows that he is Japanese-American decent. He went to our dresser and threw on his black jeans and a band shirt that read Black Veil Brides. He put on his grey sweatshirt. "Come on, get your shoes on." He told me, noticing my naked feet. I went to my shoes and slipped them on. "Ches, did you sleep well last night?" Erwin asks me. I turn around. Come to think of it, I don't remember my dream. "No, why?" I reply wondering what must've happened last night for Erwin to be concerned. "Well I heard you toss and turn. You kept on saying the name Cath, then Cather, then Ren. You then you said no to something." Erwin explains. I turn my head and see Erwin. Come to think of it, I hardly remember my dream from last night. I didn't even know a Cath, or Cather. I don't even know a Ren either. Could it be from Ren and Stimpy? I shrugged. "Must've been a stupid nightmare. I'll live." I say. "Okay, but try and think of happier things before ya sleep. You need to rest well if you want to be tall." Erwin advises me. I grin. "Okay, I will." I respond as we walk out the door.

Erwin and I don't attend the same school. I wish we could but there really isn't anything I can do about it. He's a freshman and I'm an eighth grader. We just got back from a four day weekend and everyone was either catching up with their friends, boasting about their activities the three weeks, or creating more gossip and drama. I only had a few acquaintances. I wasn't the most well liked kid in the world. Not a lot of kids talked to me, and personally I didn't care. I didn't have to have friends. I didn't have money. I didn't have anything to impress people with. I was just a drifter. Eventually I'm gonna be alone for a long time. I was fine with the way I was. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I can tell you've been trying to envision me. Let me make it easier for you. I have long black hair with bangs that can cover my left eye, my eyes are as blue as a sapphire, I'm a pretty thin person but I have some muscle, and I am not that tall, being 5'1 (apparently I haven't hit my growth spurt yet.). I shake my head. "The weekend was as good as it lasted." I say. I sigh as I catch another glimpse of myself. I try to smile. "I guess that's better." I tell myself. "Just keep the smile and things will be okay." That's a thing Erwin would say. It does work a little. "Try and think positive" He would say. He would also try to make things seem better. To make things that they are a small shitty chapter. "To truly enjoy the rainbow you would have to go through the rainstorm." Another thing he would say.

I walked to my seat of my home room. It was at the back of the room. My home room belonged to Miss DeWitt, a young woman. She was beautiful (I had a crush on her. Don't judge). She had black hair like a raven's with a red streak that was red as a scarlet scarf, she had tattoos on her right arm that had birds and a anti-possession charm, she was tall being 5'11, she had soft blue eyes that were pale blue and were almost grey, and she was thin and graceful like a ballerina. Anyway class was starting and she wrote the topic on the board. "Okay ladies and gentlemen: we are gonna have a discussion today." She spoke as she wrote. She stepped away from the white board. It read SALEM WITCH TRIALS: WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Before Miss DeWitt could speak there was a knock on the door. "I'll get that." She says as she walks to the door. She opens the door. After Miss DeWitt opens the door a young girl walks through. "Oh yeah. I forgot! We have a new student! Please introduce yourself!" She tells the class and the new girl. The girl had blond hair with bangs that was tied in two low pigtails, eyes that were so interesting; they were light jade on the inside and deep sea water on the outside, she was tall (she was probably five inches taller than me) and thin too, she had a purple jacket, a black t-shirt, dark jeans, and white sneakers. She looked familiar. I felt like I've seen her before. "Hello! My name is Catherine Macken, but you guys can call me Cath, Cather, Cat, or Ren!" She introduces. I felt stunned. I felt like I knew this girl. No, she was from my nightmare. Why was I dreaming about a girl I've never met?
