" Lucy?" Her voice was tiny and small.
My mouth moved too. " Sylvia?"
It was Sylvia...the lesbo from Facebook!
We stared at each other, unable to believe our eyes. I was more surprised. I hadn't reckoned on seeing Sylvia anytime soon. I had completely forgotten all about her until now.
It's amazing how different she looked from the picture she sent to me.
Sylvia was of average height with a freckled face. Her skin was like old mahogany: smooth and hairless. She had perfect teeth and there was that sparkle in her eyes that was something to see.
If I was to be a judge, I'd say she would be in her late teens.
" What's going on here?" Charlotte's voice brought me back to Earth.
" Umm..." I licked my lips. " It's nothing. Nothing."
" You know each other?"
I didn't feel comfortable to start explaining my new founded friendship between Sylvia and I on Facebook so I shook my head.
" I don't suppose I do."
Charlotte glanced at me then at Sylvia. " Alright, an ice cream and a beer."
I watched Sylvia walk away to get our order, her face puzzled with questions.
" Sorry about last night, lil sis," Charlotte said Immediately. " I guess I got drunk. Sneaking up on you like that was soo out of place."
" It's alright," I said, my mind still on Sylvia. " I asked for it, didn't I?"
Charlotte was studying me. I looked at her, screwing my face. " You keep staring at me that way. What's with that look?"
Charlotte crossed her legs, leaning her face on her hand. " I want us to talk about Collette."
This was the discussion I've been waiting to have with her. " What about Collette?"
" What does she look like now?" Charlotte asked. " It's been ages since last I saw her."
" She's just like you," I answered, trying to dig Collette out of those dreads. " But Collette doesn't keep her hair in dreads. She wears it long or plaits it decently in shape. Also, she doesn't wear a tattoo."
Charlotte showed her teeth. " Funny how you're just describing the opposite of myself to Collette."
" Well, there isn't much difference between you two."
" There definitely are," Charlotte insisted. " Does Collette have a boyfriend?"
This was an unexpected question and it quipped my interest. " No she doesn't, why asking?"
Charlotte frowned. " So she's still the same old girl."
I instantly had this certain feeling there was something about Collette that Charlotte knew.
" What do you mean?"
She leaned back on her chair as Sylvia returned with our order. After placing her beer and my ice cream on the table, she stood back and left not after giving me a concealed smile.
Charlotte opened her drink and sucked from the bottle. I've seen girls get drunk with alcohol but I never imagine seeing Collette drinking alcohol. Looking at Charlotte, I had this sickening feeling Charlotte was going to be a hell of a big sister.
