Singing on the streets

Every day I stand with my hat on the floor and sing for the small crowds that pass by the Main Square. The main square has about 20 shops, banks, caves, restaurants altogether. There is also a supermarket, bowling alley, cinema and ice skating ring. There are two roads that come of the side of the square. They are where the charity shops are and where most pedestrians enter the square. Not many people pass by as the shops aren't that good. There are enough to keep the town going though. It's a town called Tredford. It's really far out. The closest city is Birmingham, my old home.It is about 50 miles from there. It's a nice place for people trying to get away from it all. Tredford is quite an old fashioned place. The tvs only have channel one and five. So they don't see programmes like britains got talked and the X factor. They have never heard of people like one direction or Taylor swift.

I set up my CD player and started singing. Time passes so quickly when I'm singing. It had been half an hour and I had a pound. For people on the streets that is a lot of money and for the amount of people who live here that is like a tenner.

I love one direction. So when I followed this man home I was surprised to see that he only had Chanel 1 and 5. I followed multiple people home and watched through the windows to see if they too only had two channels. Try did.

That night I spent the night in the bus shelter on the outskirts of Tredford.

3 YEARS LATER:

I am now 16 and i still live on the streets. I went back to the square ready to earn a fiver like I did yesterday. I saw 5 boys in their late teen years walk past laughing. They had familiar voices. Before I realised who it was, they had walked past. I recognised their voices from the radio. A group of singers. But I couldn't think who. Since I had been Tredford, I hadn't listened to music. Only karaoke music.

I decided to head off early as I had managed to earn 7 pounds in 4 hours. I walked to the bus stop as usual and set up my sleeping bag I had bought from the charity shop. I laid my head down and pulled the sleeping bag up around my chin. I put my bag between my and the bus stop glass so it wouldn't get taken.
