"40 days until we die."
Aiko was pacing around the room. I watched her nervously as she huffed in frustration.
"So we have only 40 days? What are we supposed to do to escape in 40 days? And what are we supposed to do with 25 thousand dollars? We're the only people here!"
"Keep in mind, we also have a photograph and this entire city to ourselves." Kiya glanced over at her from where she was relaxing on a stray bench.
"What are we supposed to do with a photograph and a city, Kiya? Unless the photo has an exact picture of the place we can escape and directions on how to get there, there's nothing." Junichi sighed in frustration as Aiko ranted.
I attempted to give them all a comforting smile. "Let's not worry too much guys, we have 40 days to get out of here."
"Quiet, Hikari. It's your fault we're even here." Aiko glared at me, and I shrunk back under her fiery eyes.
She was right. It was my fault we were here in this abandoned city in the middle of what looked like a force field that disintegrated anything that touched it.
We learned that after Miko tried to pass through it.
I looked down, remembering Miko. She was strong, the strongest of all of us. And she was gone in a second, just like that.
Just what were we even up against?
