"Oh, you see that girl over there?" Marie asked. "Yeah." Evylen replied back. "Look at her wrists. They're covered in cuts. What an attention-seeker! Jeez, what is wrong with her?!?"
Evylen looked at her own wrists. They were covered in fresh cuts, from where she had dragged her razor over her delicate skin last night. She teared up.
"Hey, Evylen, why are you crying?" Evylen thought carefully, searching for the right words to describe it. She got mad with Marie. Her best friend. The one who doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut.
"Marie! You asshole! Not everyone who cuts is an attention-seeker!" The tears freely tore down Evylen's face. What was wrong with her. Marie turned bright red.
"I'm not an asshole. You shouldn't stand up for cutters. They're fucking nuts. I hate them."
"Well, it's glad to know where I stand. I'm not an attention-seeker. I'm not some fucking crazy asshole who wants attention. If you can't see that, then you're the fucking crazy asshole who wants attention." Evylen left. What was wrong with her?
After Evylen came home, she grabbed a razor and locked herself in her bathroom.
"I'm not an attention-seeker. I'm not. Marie is. Marie is." Evylen dragged the blade across her wrist. She wasn't an attention-seeker. She wasn't.
