Zumi - backstory

Tanezumi, more commonly known as Zumi, is part of the Hyture species and appeared on Earth at the same time her sister, Lace, did. They eventually both went their separate ways. Lace was more interested in the spotlight, while Zumi was more interested in hiding in the shadows and keeping her head down. She wanted to simply observe humanity. She's been watching humanity for centuries from the shadows. At one point, she found herself joining an assassin league in the early medieval ages. She was contacted after she stumbled upon one of their operations, and swiftly and quietly, killed all of the assassins. She was reluctant at first to join the league, but after the head of the league informed her that they only assassinate troublesome and evil individuals, she decided to join. She was worth at least ten normal assassins. She had special training from monks, native Americans, other assassins, warriors, all sorts of people from different cultures. She was a trained fight and killer. She didn't always like to kill, but she killed when she felt she had to. She would get hired for all sorts of targets, especially high profiled ones. She'd even be hired to kill royalty, but only if they were suspected to be corrupt. At one point, in around the 14th or 15th century, Zumi was hired to killed a royal by the name of King Darcien the first. Zumi heard tales of this king before, and of how cruel he was towards his people. However, he was powerful, and had quite a large army. So, Zumi decided she'd hire some muscle, and send them in to kill the king instead. The leader of her assassin league informed her that there is a man who has a strong hatred for this king, as he has killed someone he cared for. Turns out, this random guy was a leader of a bandit camp, which means he has some combat experience and an army. So, Zumi went to the bandit camp, and approached the bandit leader with her offer. He jumped at the opportunity, and denied her payment when she offered it to him. He told her that the only payment he wants in return is to keep Darcien's kingdom after he is slain. Zumi didn't really care about the kingdom, and agreed to his proposal. So, Zumi went back to her assassin hideout, and waited for the job ti be accomplished. A day later, she hears news that the mission went somewhat according to plan. The king was killed, but so was the bandit and his army. However, the king's son, prince Ambrose Darcien, remained, and took his rightful place on the throne. Zumi didn't really care. She got the job done, and managed to take out several evil people with this mission. She got the corrupt king, and a group of vicious bandits. And better yet, no one knew she was ever involved. The only person who actually saw her was now dead. So, Zumi went back to the assassin leader, and got compensated for her mission. She then left the league, and headed off into the world, in search of something more. She's been hearing tales of some of her siblings, and has even tried to track them down. Zumi also quite enjoyed spying on people from the shadows. She once found her sister, Lace, in Egypt, swooning Cleopatra. Zumi would climb the sides of Cleo's temple, and watch them in secret. She once overheard a conversation between Cleo and Lace that involved assassinating Julius Caesar. And after they concluded that conversation, they went straight to making out. It was very strange and extremely awkward. Some centuries later, Zumi followed Lace to Chicago, and then split off from her again. Zumi actually wanted to be a hero. She heard about all the different creatures and super powered beings popping up in Chicago, and she wanted to aid humanity in their defeat. For years, she's been just watching from the sidelines. She even found her other sister, Pygmy, and kept an eye on her. She saw the sorts of things she was getting up to with her lover, Steph, and how gentle she was with them. Zumi is usually either hiding in alleyways, in the sewers, or jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Every now and then, she'd jump out of the shadows to stop a mugging or a potential stabbing. After she'd stop these incidents, she'd say nothing to the victims, and just disappear, back into the night. She was only ever out and about at night. She has witnessed many events, even important ones too. She was there when Pygmy met Steph, and even when Acro escaped E.G.T.A custody and fled into the sewers. Zumi was in the sewers at the time when Acro entered them. She stayed hidden, but observed him. She stayed hidden for a long time, until Acro finally left. She still kept an eye on him, and everyone else in this strange city. She was also basically the queen of gossip, since she heard everything everyone has ever said around a manhole. She spends a lot of her time in the sewers, and a lot of it either in alleyways or on rooftops. She's only ever in the sewers when it's daylight because the light hurts her eyes. She can't stand the light. One day, Zumi did actually get the chance to prove herself a hero, even if no one ever found out that she helped. Vine Trap, an alien that arrived on Earth to destroy and conquer, was attacking civilians and throwing vehicles. He killed dozens of innocent people before the E.G.T.A arrived. Vine Trap was nearing a manhole cover, and Zumi's arm popped up from underneath and she slashed one of Vine Trap's legs, causing him to fall over. That's when the E.G.T.A decided to move in and tranquilize the beast, now that he was vulnerable on the ground. When the E.G.T.A agents were securing Vine Trap, they noticed that his leg had been slashed, but had no idea how it happened. Zumi remained hidden, but was glad that she could help. She didn't really like the E.G.T.A, but Vine Trap was killing innocents, and the E.G.T.A were the only ones trying to stop him. From then on, Zumi always tried to help when she could, but immediately sink back into the shadows afterwards. She also knew that one day, she might have to fight some of her siblings. Some of her siblings care about humanity, and others only care about summoning their father. If he is summoned, then all of humanity is doomed.
