Julianne

Hello there! My name is Julianne. I am a fish. I am a Three-Spotted Gourami and loved by my owner's father. He and my other owners treat me like a queen. I have everything that I could ever want. My owners feed me three times every day, I have my best friends Hugo and Kally, and there's nothing to worry about in life at all. They are both goldfishes and I can see them being a couple. The big one is named Hugo by the owner's eldest son, and the smaller, more shiny one is named Kally. There's this other fish who strays away from us. I think she's kind of weird because she doesn't eat when we eat and swim together with us. I heard through the grapevine that her name is Gabrielle or Gabs for short. There is also an eel that hides from everyone. According to rumours, the eel is the oldest creature that ever lived in this tank. I wonder if I will ever get to see it...

Hugo

Sigh! It's been a rough week. The school has been throwing homework at me left and right, all the while I have to come home and do all the chores and manage my little brother Felix. He is an absolute pest. When you need him, he is never there, whenever you don't he messes everything up, and that kid is permanently attached to his computer. Things have been different since the final quarter of school started. Apparently, my girlfriend is considered a grade 10, and I only see her every other day. I have no one to hang out with, since my only friend besides my girlfriend left to do online class, and all my other friends are already part of other big friend groups. I feel like I would be intruding, and I don't belong. The only company I have when I get home would be my mom who is always doing something, my annoying brother, and my fish. Every day, I see the three fish play with one another, and it would remind me of the lives before a stupid virus separated us, and how I and my friends were careless. Back in the day, I never had to worry about anything. So, I named each of them after us. I wish my life could go back to normal.

Julianne 5/5/2021

Today was a very slow day. My owner has to go to school which means I don't get to see him for most of the day. Luckily, I have my friends and the owner's mom to keep me company for the day. For the entire day, I noticed Gabs watching us from afar. No one bothered to go ask her to join us. Bored, I went up to Kally and told her to tag Hugo, and we decided to play tag. After swimming for hours, I heard a click at the door. My owner had finally come home. We watched him and his brother open the fridge to grab a glass of water. He then sprinted up the stairs with great speed, and I heard the sound of water and music turn on. Soon after, he walked downstairs and opened the tank lid to feed us. Every time he comes to feed us, I purposely push Hugo and Kally into the food, that way we can chase each other and have fun eating off each other. Eventually, he'd sit down to do homework until it got dark. I would watch as our owner's family came together from all parts of the house to sit down for a meal together. This is a ritual that happens every day, once in the morning and once at night. Somedays, I wish I could be in a family and sit down to eat. The only family I have is Hugo and Kally.
