the distance between us

Chapter 1

~Theo's POV~

The date was February 10th, 2021. My least favourite day of the year was approaching quickly. The day of love, the day that single people would crave what others would have. The thing that they could only wish that one day they could have as well. I was one of those unlucky ones. I had been heartbroken by many people over time, and I had been set on hating that day, since I was always alone. But, I didn't want to be alone for another year, so I began to think.

I had stayed in bed on my phone for most of the morning, talking to my friend, Scott. I had been talking to him about my issue, and had been asking him for ideas.

"well, I do have some friends that could maybe... be your valentine or something? to start, at least."
The text message had read.
I thought about it. Really, really hard. Was I really this desperate for love? I sighed as I typed in my reply.
"Awh that would be so nice of you! thank you so much :) let me know what they say."
I anxiously waited to hear back from him, so while I was waiting, I put in my headphones to listen to music. That always calmed me down. I clicked on the familiar icon for my music, and scrolled to my playlist. "no panicking." the screen had shown. I pressed shuffle and listened as the guitar had began to strum for one of my favourite songs. My screen lit up as I saw the notification from Scott. I tapped on it as fast as I possibly could and read out his reply.
"So my friend isn't interested, but I did talk to my other friend."
I read, and I saw that he had sent me a screenshot of the conversation? "i wonder..." I thought to myself as I opened the image. I read the conversation as my face had turned a bright red. This Alex person had been complimenting me on my looks, and saying things about how he had watched my live streams, and said how cute I looked. I smiled a little as I replied to Scott.
"What's their name?- They sound really sweet, I'd love to talk to them"
As I had sent my reply, I got a text message. I looked what the notification had said, it read
"Hiiii, I'm Scott's friend. He said I should talk to you :)"

I saw Scott typing, so I waited patiently.

"His name is Alex."
