John POV"Mr Fairley!"
I turned to the direction of my name, and it was difficult to tell who it was among the rapidly moving crowd.
"John!" I heard my name again, louder this time, nearer, and I faced in the opposite direction, in hopes of finding the caller.
Suddenly pale, freckled arms reached over my shoulders, and drowned me in a bear hug. I laughed and turned around, my lips connecting with hers, as I lifted her and spun her around, her red hair trailing in the air. Eleanor was my girlfriend, since about eighth grade. I broke away from the kiss and looked at her again.
It was great seeing Eleanor again after her photography trip in Thailand. Then I saw another familiar face in the crowd.
Michael lumbered towards us, his camera around his neck, his lens bag dangling dangerously near the floor. His luggage pivoted its way over to where we stood, where me and Eleanor awkwardly stood watching him. He dropped his luggage quickly as a brown-haired girl in the crowd rushed into his open arms. It appears Amy missed Michael as much as I missed Eleanor.
Ellie, Emma, Lily and Kate strutted towards us in heels, drawing attention to their amazing ability to walk in 6-inch stilts. It was quite a show until Lily tripped on her heel, falling on Kate and cascading Ellie and Emma like dominoes. We all laughed, although Ellie was making a furious effort to stand up again on her high heels.
Slowly, Yash, TimTam, Max, Ricky, Faye and Hugh joined our little group, greeting each other and sharing stories. TK was the last to join our group. He emerged from the bathroom with bags under his eyes and toilet paper stuck to his shoe. Yash clapped his hands as the group slowly silenced.
"What's up guys?" He asked, his hands outstretched.
"The ceiling." Hugh replied. "Get it? 'Cause the ceiling is up, and Yash said..."
"Yes we get it." Ellie sighed. She was often the loud one, but today she was tired. Everyday she was tired.
"We got it the last time you said it." Faye moaned. I used to date Faye, but we decided we were better off as friends.
"And the last HUNDRED times you said it." Lily said, rolling her eyes.
Hugh nervously scratched the back of his neck, obviously embarrassed by what he had said. We stared at him in silence, then suddenly, with no explanation, burst out in laughter and conversation. Many of us went on the photography trip, but unfortunately our art teacher, Mr McNair, stayed behind.
All 15 of us headed towards the bus stop, most of us carrying our luggages from our trip. We occupied the back seats, obviously excited to get to the hotel.
"Guys, GUYS!" Amy shouted over the conversation. "It's Kriti's birthday today, so we better Skype her later."
"Does the hotel have any wifi?" Ricky asked, already taking out his iPad.
"OH MY GOD RICKY. ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO BE ON WATTPAD THIS WHOLE TIME?" Emma moaned.
"Jeez, guys, I haven't been on Wattpad since... The plane."
"Ricky, I think you're getting addicted." I chided.
"Ha!" He replied. "I think I already am."
Several of us nodded our heads in agreement, while Yash leaned forward into Ricky's seat and snatched his iPad from his hands. We laughed as Yash easily defended against Ricky's furious effort to get his iPad back. Eleanor leaned across the aisle, and whispered something in Ricky's ear, making him stop.
"What did you tell him?" I asked my girlfriend.
"I said I would personally stuff my underwear into his mouth when we get to the hotel." Eleanor whispered.
"The question is, would you?" Lily added, overhearing our conversation.
"At least he would let me. What he doesn't know is that I'm gonna drench it in vinegar first." Eleanor said.
"Oh my gosh Eleanor, you're so bad!" Lily laughed.
I looked behind Lily to catch Kate and Yash making out in the back of the bus, occupying four seats. I couldn't help but laugh as I took out my phone and started recording, alongside Michael. Ellie was going red for trying to hold in her laughter, and Faye and Hugh were shaking their heads, even though it was obvious they wanted to laugh as well.
Emma grabbed Hugh from behind and whispered something in his ear, making Hugh turn around and smile at her mischievously. Michael then grabbed Amy, but she was trying to get his hold off her shirt. TK was doubled over; he leaned into the row of seats in front of him so far, that he fell head-first into Faye's lap. The moist (don't ask me how, I don't know) toilet paper stuck at the bottom of his shoe landed on TimTam's face, and we laughed even harder as he struggled to get it off his face and out of his hair.
We were having so much fun, that it took us a while to calm down and realize that we missed out bus stop. We got off the bus on the next stop, dragging our luggage on the cement path. We stood outside the glass hotel doors, awaiting our first summer after college.
