Tables for five have been meticulously set with neatly arranged cutlery, complementing the soft background music playing.

Sebastian and Thompson are ushered to a large table intended for fifteen people, surrounded by esteemed elders and high officials.

Meanwhile, I stand at the door feeling out of place.
"What are you doing here?"Ruth playfully nudges me, insisting I join the table with Sir.

"No way!" I say a bit too loudly because a few people turn to look at us. I curtsy and wave in apology.

"Sir wants you there, now more"

"I'm not an official. Sir would just damn me off" I remain rooted to my spot.

However, Ruth's firm nudge pushes me towards their direction.
Fearing Sir's possible disdain, I drag myself and timidly approach the table, earning curious glances from the officials.

The only vacant seat is positioned between Thompson and Mr. Andrews, the special adviser. Anxious, I mustered the courage to ask Sebastian for permission to sit,
"May I sit, Sir "

He nods, allowing me to join the gathering. I avoid eye contact as I take my seat.

Thompson, visibly skeptical, turns towards me. I turn my attention to pulling at the hems of my dress.

After studying my features for a moment, he looks to his father "who is she?"

"She's the Rolleto girl" Sebastian smirks at his son "you remember she's been here since the attack "

"Oh, she looks quite... awful". My frown deepens.

"What's your name?' he inquires

I introduce myself as Diana

He remains expressionless "not too bad."

A bit embarrassed, I retreat into myself as they exchange some lighthearted banter about my appearance, which stings, knowing that their expectations have shaped my looks since my arrival.
