She closed here eyes and felt the mist fly onto her face. The tiny little fan blowing cold air. She waved her bubble wand in the other hand. In a white dress, she spun round and round over and over until she had to stand still without toppling over. The wind blew through her jet black hair, blowing strands out of her ponytail, and onto her face. She walked by the clear blue river, and sat on the stones, feeling the breeze. She dipped her toes in the water and giggled because it was cold.

     "Mommy?" she asked.

     "Yes dear?" her mother responded.

"When is Daddy coming home?" she asked.

"Soon, my dear. Soon." her mother stated.

She went back to playing with the water and bubbles. Her mom sat thinking about her husband, Blake. The player who had fallen head over heels in love with her. The man who so in love with his wife that he refused to let her get groceries for she would have to pick them up. The man who found a babysitter for Charlotte every 17th of the month and then set up a date for the two under the bridge where they met. He would arrange a table with a few candles. Food that he had made earlier in preparation. Chairs lit with sparkling lights and best of all, one singular lily in a vase in the center of the table.

"Charlotte! It's time to go." She told her daughter.

"Okay, Mommy. Can we please get ice cream?" Charlotte asked.

"You and your adorable face. I'm spoiling you." Kristen said.

     "Yay!" Charlotte shouted.

"When Daddy comes home, he's going to be upset with m-." Before Kristen finished her sentence, Charlotte was long gone. She already ran to the car and waiting for her mommy to hurry up.

They both got into the car and drove to their local ice cream shop.

     "Good Evening Mrs.Evans." Kristen said.

"Oh for dear heavens. Would you stop calling me that child? How many times have I told you to call me Caroline? If you come in here one more time and call me with a formal name, I won't let you come in here anymore." Mrs.Evans exclaimed.

Mrs.Evans was a friend of Kristens mother. After her mother passed, Kristen relied on Mrs.Evans for emotional support. Mr.Evans was a huge help too. He acted as a father figure to Kristen.

"Sorry Mrs.- ahem. Caroline. I'm really needing some of the usual today for Carolina and I."

She looked at Charlotte who stood with her face smudged against the ice cream display window.

Mrs.Evans handed Charlotte her usual and she went to their normal table and plopped down onto the seat. Mrs.Evans signaled for Kristen to come behind the counter to have a chat.

"How have you been holding up?" Mrs.Evans asked just as Mr.Evans came out the back storage area.

"KRISTEN!! My beautiful kiddo!!" He exclaimed with wide arms as he enveloped her in a warm hug.

Since she was a young girl, she hadn't known who her father was as he left while she was young. In place, Mr.Evans, her father's ex-best friend took care of her mother and her.

He pecked her on the cheek and said, "Why wouldn't you come to see me in the hospital? I was waiting for my daughter, but she never showed." he said with a sad face.

"I did Chris." she rolled her eyes.  "You were so under the antibiotics, you thought I was Athena, the Greek goddess."

"Oh. No wonder." he chuckled. "I really need to stop reading the Percy Jackson novels. But how can I? Charlotte hers her grandpa-kiddo sessions!" he stated. "I love reading them to her."
