Horrid Headaches

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I found myself staring up at the ceiling above me. Considering how dark it was, I was unsure if it even was a ceiling. But my head was hurting too much to care so I just pushed that thought aside. The important question was, where am I? Suddenly, my memories started flooding back to me like running water and I let out an involuntary gasp. I quickly sat up, my blurry vision quickly making me regret it, and attempted to look at my surroundings.
"M-Madeleine!!" I called out without a second to think. "Where is everyone..?! Latte, Clover, Licorice!? Madie..!" I called out once again. I rubbed my eyes as my breathing picked up. Then, there was a cold hand on my shoulder. I flinched and instinctively backed up but instead of something scary, a sight i'd love to see stood in front of me. It was Madeleine. Or at least I hoped it was. My glasses were off so I couldn't tell too much. I lowered my shoulders and let out a draining sigh.
"I heard your calls for me.. Here darling." He snickered and handed me my glasses. I looked down at them and hesitantly took them back and put them back on my face. I looked back up at him with a smile. His tiny smile was faltering but I'm sure that idiot thought he was pulling it off just fine.
"...Thank you. Where is.." I trailed off my sentence when I looked over to my left and noticed Licorice rubbing his probably throbbing head on the ground, Latte dusting herself off, and Clover still trying to get himself up from the floor. "..Never mind. I'm glad they're ok.." I muttered. Madeleine looked over to them as well and took his hand off of me. A tiny pit swirled in my stomach and I felt the urge to reach out to him again but I held myself back. I'd never admit it but I kind of want him to protect me even though I'm fairly capable of doing so myself but.. I simply can't help it. It's just a stupid feeling. Madeleine reached his hand out to me and helped me steady myself so I could stand. Even after I got a hold of my balance, he kept an arm around my waist to hold me up. We both stumbled over to the others and I let out another dreadful sigh. Nothing about this seems right. Latte noticed our arrival and quickly looked over at us both with sympathetic eyes.
"I'm glad you both are in good shape. Licorice.. not so much." She mumbled and her eyes shifted over to Licorice. He didn't even notice we were talking about him and continued to grumble about his headache. It's not I could particularly blame him. "So, no one has any idea where we are?" Latte said, raising her voice a bit. Everyone of us shook our heads. She frowned once again and looked around the dimly lit room. She placed her hand on a nearby wall, running her hand across it to find her way in the dark. Clover eventually pulled himself up and helped Licorice up as well. From across the room, Latte let out a tiny gasp and flipped a switch on the wall which turned on the lights. The room lit up to reveal what looked like a run down library. Latte crossed the room back over to us and we all stood in awe.
"I can only wonder how we ended up here.." Clover mumbled.
"Well, let's find out. Why don't we all look around?" Madeleine suggested. We all thought about it and nodded. "Just everyone be cautious, ok?" Madeleine warned. Everyone stayed quiet and started to look around. Madeleine removed his arm from around me and looked down at me. "You can stand on your own, right?" He asked. Of course I could. I'm not some child. But a part of me still wanted to say no.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Madie.." I thanked. He smiled once again and looked around at the library. I put a hand to my chest and took a deep breath. My heart was still beating a thousand miles an hour but, there's nothing I can do about it now. We've gotta find a way outta here.
