It was late On Halloween night when Chloe and her parents arrived home after a long night of trick or treating.
Chloe, a young girl of the age seven entered the front door of her home dressed as princess in a fluffy pink dress and gold tiara on her head smiling, holding a jack-o- lantern pail full of various candies ranging from skittles to snicker and smarties.
Behind her entered her mother and father dressed and a burrito and taco. They smiled at the delight of their only child running around the house and singing
"Trick or treat, smell my feet, or give me something sweet to eat" as she swung her magical sparkle wand in the air.
Thresa looked at Adam "looks like someone's got a sugar rush." She kissed her husband and entered the living room.
"Chloe it's Almost time to go to bed, we should start settling down." She says to her daughter.
Chloe stops running around and looks at her mom with puppy dog eyes.
"But moma, I want to sort my candies, and watch scary movies, and play with Sasha!" she begs her mom.
This made Theresa realize she had no idea where the family dog was. Normally Sasha, the small dachshund would greet them at the door wagging her tail, but tonight she was nowhere to be found. This made Thresa very concerned.
"We can do all that in the morning, I need you to go to your room and get in pajamas and brush your teeth so I can tuck you in."
"Okay mom." The young girl said sadly and looked down and headed upstairs to her bedroom.
Theresa made her way to the kitchen where she found her husband.
"Have you seen Sasha?" She asked him sounding concerned
"No babe, I was just looking for her. Normally she comes to the door. I looked in the back and she wasn't there." He replied looking around the room
Theresa was about to reply but got cut off by the screams of their daughter.
Theresa and Adam rushed up the stairs and into their daughters room.
They were horrified at what they saw. The head of their dog was sitting on their daughter's bed in a pool of blood on top of a pillow.
Chloe screams and cries holding on to a white teddy bear in the corner of her bedroom.
Adam runs to his bedroom to grab the home phone and dial 911 only to find that the phones weren't working.
Suddenly all the power in the house is cut. The only light in the house being the faint moon light that somewhat lit the rooms in the house.
Theresa was able to make here way to her daughter and grabbed her hand trying to guid her out of the room.
"It's okay baby, mommy is here, it's going to be okay"
She said, trying to comfort her daughter.
"Where is daddy? I want daddy too!" Chloe cried, barely able to get her words out.
"We are going to find him now, it's going to be okay"
Theresa reassured her daughter.
They walked down the hall that was dimly lit. Once they got to the door, Chloe hid behind her mom as she turned the doorknob.
Theresa was filled with shock and horror at what she saw. Her husband, lying on the floor with his intestines spread across the floor. Blood was soaked in the grey carpet.
Theresa held back the urge to scream so she wouldn't alert her daughter to what she's seen.
She had to get them out of the house and get help, screaming would only give off her position if they didn't know where she was already.
She turned around to face her daughter, and blocked the doorway to try to block her daughters view into the room.
Chloe was silent
"Okay, I think dad went over to the neighbors house, so that's what we are going to do now okay? But we have to be fast so we are going to play a game, we are going to have a race, and if you win, you can eat all the candy out of your bucket okay?"
Chloe nodded her head. Chloe turned around to try to run but when she did she heard the screams of her mother. And the bedroom door shutting.
All she could hear was her mother's screams telling her to run as she was choking on her own blood.
Chloe ran as fast as she could downstairs but she missed a step and tripped sending her barreling down the stairs. Knocking her head on the floor.
Chloe tried to get up but she was too dizzy from the fall. She tried to look around but her vision was blurry. She started to drag herself to the front door.
The sounds of someone coming down the stairs alerted Chloe. She looked back to see someone dressed in a black hooded robe approaching her with a knife.
"Finally the ritual will be complete." He hissed
The hooded stranger pulled a long knife from his robe and approached Chloe, just a few feet away from the front door.
Chloe knew she wouldn't survive this and just gave In
