After the Halloween store, Justice and I decided to hit up the food court. And grab some corn dogs. As we sat at the table, screams could be heard throughout the mall, making me jump at each one. I let out a sigh and looked at justice, who was too busy with her phone to even notice.
"What are you looking at?" I ask her curiously.
She looks up from her phone and puts It away quickly. "Oh, it's nothing." she nervously replies
I look her in the eyes and question her. " that is sure a strong reaction for just nothing."
She lets out a sigh and opens her mouth to speak " fine, I might as well show you, you are going to find out one way or another." she takes the phone out of her pocket, unlocks it, and places it on the table in front of me. I look at the screen and notice she has Instagram pulled up and a video started to play.
It was from this morning, someone took a video of what Robby did to me this morning, But before Andrew's intrusion, the camera turned to the person who was filming. Jessica waltz, Robby's girlfriend. " look at this freak, on the floor!" she laughs, and then the video cuts off and repeats again.
I scroll down and see that the video has 300 likes and 20 comments. When I was about to look at the comments Justice took her phone back. "That's enough of that"I was pissed. I can feel anger bubbling up from my chest to my throat and I just wanted to scream.
"Justice?" I said calmly.
"Yes?" She replied looking into my eyes.
"How long have you known about this?" I ask sounding impatient.
"Since lunchtime."
"And why didn't you say anything to me!?!" I stand up and huff
Justice was taken aback. She had never seen me so mad before. Her eyes get wide and she looks away.
"I-I I didn't know how to tell you. This is why I wanted to try to help you with your PTSD. So you don't need to keep dealing with people messing with you like this. They do it because they know they can get to you. I just want to help you." She explains. I was still kissed but I can understand why she didn't tell me.
I take my food from the table and walk away to throw it in the trash can. I walk back to the table and grab my bag and my jacket.
"Where are you going, Chloe?" She asks me as she stands up getting ready to grab her things. "Justice, I need some time alone. I'm not mad at you. I just had a stressful day. I need to go. I'll text you later " I say to her and just walk off. Out of the food court, into the middle of the mall. I sigh and make my way to the exit. I pull out the phone to text my aunt to come to get me. I put my phone in my back pocket and looked up to see three men in black robes standing at the doors.
My heart rate instantly rises and I feel like I'm going to throw up. Every instinct in my body was telling me to run but I didn't, knowing that I could possibly be mistaking some people in costumes for my attackers.I turn around to make my way to the exit on the other side of the mall. I still got the feeling that someone was following me. I looked over my shoulder to see the men following me, getting closer. I pick up my pace, bumping into people on the way. I almost made it to the exit when three more robed men steps in front of that exit and started making their way in my direction.
I turned around again and saw the others getting closer. I had nothing left to do. I was going to be trapped. I could feel my heart racing out of my chest and I was having a hard time controlling my breathing. I was on the verge of a panic attack.
No! This wasn't the time for that.
I quickly look around to see if I had any other options to escape. My eyes darted everywhere and I began to panic.
My only way out of this was to run upstairs. I bolt in that direction and run up the stairs to the entrance of the maze. I take a deep breath and enter, hoping I can find a place to hide in there. The halls were lit up with a red light. Fog filled them, I had no way of seeing what was in front of me.
I tried to control my breathing. I knew now wouldn't be the time to panic. I continued my descent into the maze. Generic Halloween music and sounds of children laughing could be heard. I looked around for a door, or even a table to hide under. But I couldn't find anything. I continue down the hall and see I can either make a left or a right. I panicked because I knew one way could be a dead end and the other could be my way to freedom. I decide to make a right and continue down the hall. I slow my steps and try to walk quietly, I need to hear if someone is following me. I hear hurried footsteps in the distance and begin to panic. I walk faster and suddenly, a dead body drops down in front of me. I jump but hold back the urge to scream and push the body out of the way. I must have triggered a decoration.
I hurried down the hall again, fake arms covered in blood shout out the wall, trying to grab me as I hurried away. I pushed every one of them off of me. Then finally, I reached the end. A dead end. I internally scream and grab at my hair. I'm fucked. I'm so fucked. I want to cry and accept the fact that something bad is about to happen to me. I look around scanning the wall for something I can use to defend myself. Then I saw a doorknob. I pull back the curtain on the wall to reveal a closet with a Plaque saying, janitor. I reach for the doorknob and luckily it opened. I quickly get in and shut the door and try to control my breathing. I kneel down a little bit to look out the vents at the bottom of the door.
I could hear footsteps slowly approaching. I hold my breath and stay as still as I can. I hear the same traps being triggered as they make their way down the hall.
Until finally, they make it to the end and stop. Right in front of the door. I can see the bottoms of a black robe with black boots sticking out of the bottom. They turn to face the door. I braced myself expecting them to open the door. But they didn't. They just stood there for what seemed like forever, but finally, after a few minutes, they began to walk away. I stop holding my breath and begin to relax a bit.
Then, suddenly my phone began to ring. I panicked and tried to get it to stop but it was too late.
Then I heard the heavy footsteps coming back down the hall. My heart stops as the door flies open. The man in the black robe towers over me and smiles. He begins to reach into his pocket. I close my eyes accepting the fact that this was going to be the end.
Finally, they have come to finish their job after 11 years.
But nothing happened. No stabbing? No pain?
I hear a heavy thud. I open my eyes and see the robed man laying on the floor bleeding from his neck, at someone's feet. I move my eyes up to the person standing in front of me.
It was the guy! The one standing across the street! Only I could see him more clearly now. He has the same black dress pants and white hoodie that was now stained with blood, but he never wore a mask. It was his face! It was pale white with a smile carved cheek to cheek and eyes with no eyelids.
I was in shock but didn't know what to do so I just stood and stared at him as he stared back at me.
"Who- who are you?" I question him with wide eyes.
I see his mouth smile a bit and he calmly says "we don't have time for that, sweetheart, we gotta get you out of here, we have to get you out of here.
He grabs my wrist and pulls me out of the closet, and down the halls of the maze.
