Cheryl unlocked her phone and opened the text message.

I'm sorry for texting you so late but I wanted to check that you're okay?

Who is this?

Oh sorry, it's Toni, I hope you don't mind Fangs gave me your number.

Cheryl's heart dropped when she read that the message was from Toni and she was going to kill Fangs when she saw him, she didn't even know how to reply.

Toni
I totally get if you don't want to talk to me, I know we're basically strangers.

Cheryl didn't want Toni to think that's what she thought because she didn't.

Cheryl
I don't think we're strangers, it's all just a little weird.

Toni
Weird how?

Cheryl
We haven't seen each other in ten years, I'm sorry I acted inappropriately.

Toni
You didn't act inappropriately so don't think that, I'm sorry I left it so long, I should have reached out.

Cheryl
No, I was the one that ended our relationship, I should have reached out to check how you was doing.

Toni
Maybe we both could have done better.

Cheryl
Maybe we could have.

Toni
I know it's late but are you busy?

Cheryl
Why?

Toni
I want to see you before I leave tomorrow morning, clear the air.

Cheryl
What about your boyfriend?

Toni
He's sleeping, please?

Cheryl
Okay, do you want to come to my place?

Toni
Sure I'll get a cab, are you still living at Thistlehouse?

Cheryl
No, I'll send you through my address.

Toni
Okay, cool.

Cheryl send Toni her address, this all felt so surreal, maybe she had fallen asleep and this was a dream.

She slid off of her bed and grabbed her robe before heading downstairs.

She sat on the couch, the butterflies in her stomach made her feel nauseous.

Cheryl heard a quiet knock on her door, she took a deep breath before she stood up and walked towards her front door.

She tried to compose herself as she opened the door and saw Toni stood in front of her in her pyjamas and her coat.

'Hi' Toni said she looked much smaller than she did when she had seen her at the party.

'Come in' Cheryl said moving to the side 'can I take your coat?'.

'Sure I'm in my pyjamas though' Toni chuckled 'I probably should have got dressed'.

'It's fine, I'm in my pyjamas too' Cheryl said, there was no humour in her voice though she was simply too nervous.

'Okay' Toni said sliding off her coat and handing it to the redhead.

'Can I get you anything? A tea or coffee maybe?'.

'A tea would be amazing' Toni smiled.

'Okay' Cheryl nodded 'the lounge is just through there make yourself at home, I'll be right back'.
