Anger Issues [ Ziam ]

An Ending.

Louis calls the police.

Louis calls the police and he makes a statement and Zayn confesses.

Zayn confesses and he's taken into custody while the police get a statement from Liam.

The police get a statement from Liam and he cries, begging them not to take Zayn away.

It may occur as a surprise to you, but Liam does, actually, still love Zayn. He's afraid of Zayn, too, of course, but he does love him.

Liam and Zayn have been together for six years; this, I did not write about. This, I did not think was important to the story.

It was.

It is because it's why Liam still loves Zayn, and perhaps if I had told you about their previous years together, you may have understood better.

I will try to now.

Liam and Zayn had good days. They had days in bed, holding hands, speaking to each other. They went on dates, to the movies, to the beach, to a restaurant. They had good dates. And they went to school, which meant they had to protect each other. Always. They were each others first relationship, each others first kiss, first time, first love. And that means something.

It's what makes a romantic story.

And so are the bad days; the days were they argued but finished it with a harsh kiss as apposed to a hard punch. The days when something bad happened; the days when one of them got jumped on their way home from school and the other got terrified because they cared. They cared because they were in love.

Those days make a romantic story.

The days after; the fights. The abuse. The anger.

They do not make a romantic story.

But they are still true. They are bad, they are dangerous, and they are not what a relationship should be. But they are still true. And they did not defeat six long years of true love.

Liam should not love Zayn, even he knows this. And Liam does not love Zayn; he loves the idea of him, yes, and the promise of the man he once knew being trapped in their somewhere just waiting to be set free. But he does not love the man that Zayn is now. Liam does not love Zayn the monster. He loves Zayn, his first ever friend.

Zayn is given bail until his court case, under the condition that he stays away from Liam.

He does.

When the court day arrives Louis arrives with Liam. They are not required; Zayn has pleaded guilty. Liam and Louis have already given evidence. 

Louis and Liam are not required; he is given an eighteen months sentence.

Liam does not speak to Louis for eighteen months. Nor does he speak to Zayn.

When Zayn's sentence is over, he does not try to get in touch with Liam. And Liam does not try to get in touch with him.

It is a silent agreement. We do not talk to each other. We do not see each other. We start again but we still love each other.

Zayn moves in with Harry, because he is the only friend he has left.

And Liam recindles his friendship with Louis.

"Are you okay?"

"Not really."

"It'll get better."

"That's only because it can't get any worse."

Liam and Louis start a relationship.

They are married within the next two years.

And Zayn cries when he is told.

He cries because he still cares.

And he cries because he is happy.

Happy for Liam.

"Zayn what're you- What're you doing here?"

"I came to say congratulations."

Liam blinks. His hair is getting damp from the rain and he needs to get inside before his suit is ruined.

"Thank you."

Zayn nods and soon they are winding each other with the force of a hug.

"I'm sorry." Zayn says.

"I know," Liam replies, blinking back the tears, "I'm sorry too."

They both sniff when they pull apart, but both manage a weak smile for the other, grinning like children again by the tenth second.

"Louis, eh?" Zayn teases, and Liam puffs a laugh. "I knew he liked you."

Liam nods and wipes at his eyes, very aware that he must get inside soon. Zayn grabs his hand before he can leave, "dont let it end up the way we did, okay?"

"Yeah," Liam answers, "okay."

"I still love you."

"And I still love you too."

Zayn's eyes are hopeful until they meet Liams, and then he sighs, "but you love Louis more now."

"I do."

Zayn grins sheepishly, "you've been practicing that."

Liam laughs lightly and they say goodbye with a final hug.

Three years later and Zayn is still single, but no longer still torn after his break-up with Liam.

Liam and Louis are still together, and are looking into adoption.

Liam still remembers Zayn, and Zayn still remembers Liam. But they do not talk to each other. They do not see each other. They have started again, but they have kept their promise.

"Liam promise me you will always love me."

They were only fifteen.

"Only if you promise too."

And had no idea what would happen next.

"Promise, now you go."

Liam smiles, turning to Zayn, laid together on a bed, their hands linked, stomaches full from their meal, minds still buzzing from the action movie beforehand. This is a good day.

"Okay I promise. I will always love you."

They keep their promise.

That is what makes a romantic story.

Second, I would like to apologies for the sudden ending, this is not how I wanted this story to end; it is still not how I want this story to end, but it is, in fact, the end. Thirdly, I'm gutted. Absolutely broken over the fact that Zayn has left the band; and I am very much aware that I am not the only one.
