Delvin Rei
I could barely keep my eyes off of her once she re-entered the ballroom. She must think that I am stupid enough not to recognize her. I knew that sooner or later she'd return to my side and that looking for her was a waste of time, only I did not know that it would take her three years to do so.
A new dress and mask cover her body for people that don't know who she is. The reason why she killed all those men is unknown to me and everyone else, though it does not bother me. As I need her to use her skills in my name.
"I missed you." I say as soon as she is in hearing reach, vulnerability seems to make girls open up. "Liar." She has changed a lot over the years, no longer is she the sweet and innocent girl who could barely use her fire. She is now known as the most horrid killer of Tallis and hopefully soon as my queen. Because after all those years, I still have a weak spot for my first true love. No matter how she has changed, she'll always be mine.
I reach out for her hand, trying to hold it as a token of love. Though she backs away from me, for a second I see fear flashing through her eyes. Something that I have never seen in her before. "I was only trying to-" She shook her head and pulls herself together again. "Don't"
"Why are you here?" She smiles and the fierceness in her eyes returns. "Wouldn't you like to know?" I can't keep myself from smiling, my heart seemed to defrost as soon as I saw her. Hope returning and worries vanishing. "I really missed you," I say again and Solace rolls her eyes. "It is easy to miss the person when you are actually missing the memories and their simplicity." She wisely speaks for a girl who is barely nineteen years old. "You don't know how much I've been aching for you to be by my side as my queen." And again I reach out for her to hold my hand and this time she does, something in her seems to have changed after speaking my words.
I don't care about the looks my people are serving me at this very moment. Wait until they realize who she is and how powerful we are together, no one would try to cross me with a ruthless killer at my side. Not even the queen of Illion can take me down with her horrid practices.
Her skin heats up mine, though does not burn it.
Lennox destroys our moment when she whispers words into my ear. "What is it?" Solace asks me, probably noticing the shift in my eyes. "That bitch Sena dared to invade the castle." I let go of Solace and follow Lennox to my guards. "Get my sister safe and make sure that they don't ruin the night, this is my night and no one else's." I turn and there is Solace, a cocky eyebrow and her arms crossed. "Tell me." I smile and adore her demanding character for a second. "I need to go and kill some warriors." As I walk towards the entrance and the gates, Sol still follows me. "Who do I need to burn to the ground?" I throw her one of my swords and as she catches the handle, the blade turns into a raging fire. "Fuck, please don't ever leave my side."
There were ten soldiers dressed in all black armour, fighting my guards in the courtyard. Sol started to fight one of them and shoved the burning swords through his unprotected arm, setting his whole body on fire. Just like she did with Mave earlier, which he deserved for fighting her like that.
"Who wants to be next?!"
My guards did not get the chance to wound any of my enemies, because she was faster and more wicked than any of them. Her doings were unholy and morbid, the whole courtyard got lit up with an orange gloom and horrible screaming. My quests must hear them, I can already see some of them standing at the entrance of the building. A few ladies holding their hands in front of their face, too scared to look. Men who hold their women firmly, as if they are going to protect them from the horror that is Solace Bonnard.
And merely ten minutes later, all ten attackers were dead. Their ashes flowing through the air as they are picked up by the wind. Solace had a few cuts here and there, another dress ruined. I wanted to order Lennox to get Kaylah, our healer, though Sol started to burn her own wounds. Closing them with her own hellfire as she kept her painful scream down. I watched her and fell even more in love with her power than I already was.
I turn towards the safe watchers standing on top of the stairs. "Dear people. I present to you, Solace Bonnard. For now, a woman to fear although soon a woman to worship like a god." Once she was done closing her wounds, I go to stand at her side and take her hand. She watches me, fire burning in her eyes still and probably no idea of what I am going to announce next.
Because it was today that she decided to stand by my side, fighting and killing for no one but me. Voluntarily. I see no other option than to claim her now and forever because I am not letting this killer machine slip out of my fingers. Not now and not ever.
"I present to you, Solace Rei-Bonnard. My wife and your queen."
