Jane POV
summer is about pizza, ice cream, sleeping, and watching netflix. The only thing would stop you is mothers, and in this case, that is exactly what happened. I'm pretty sure i'm enjoying myself. you know, in my room with the shades down and the AC blasting. but as soon as i hear those footsteps on my staircase coming up to my loft, i know there is going to be trouble. Everytime time she says the same things.
"hey Jane" she says.
"hey mom, whats up!" i say trying to sound like i'm enjoying myself and that i'm doing just great with how i'm living.
"what's up is your lazy butt" she smirks.
"Mom?!" i groan
"i'm sorry honey but it's the truth, life isnt about hiding away in your bed and straining your eyes out with electronics, its about going outside and enjoying the little things"
Okay, if i had a dollar for everytime i heard that phrase, i'd be rich. My response usually ends with covering my ears with my blanket and shoving my head in my pillow so my mom gets the message that i'm not interested. But this time was different. She came over to me and sat on the edge of my bed and closed my laptop
"i have a proposal for you" she says sighing.
I look up curious. "a proposal? as in what..."
"well" she begins, "i've been doing some research and i realized i have a fun solution to get you, you know, back in action."
I purse my lips, "Mom just tell me what it is."
"Its a teen Summer Camp!" she says enthusiastically while doing jazz hands.
"UGGGHH" i yell.
"Hear me out" she says. "this summer camp isn't a normal one. Its on the beach with a resort that comes with everything you could imagine. You're not sounding very grateful, because this could be about as expensive as a month vacation.
I gasped. "It's on the beach?! so this means everyday i could relax and go to bed to a resort?" my mouth formed into a smile. "How long is the camp?"
"5 weeks" she responded.
my smile turned into a frown and i considered my options. "thats a long time"
"I know sweetheart, take your time and dont rush it"
And i did i thought about it all night and even had a dream about meeting some hot guy at the camp. I raced downstairs to the kitchen where my mom was cooking. "mom i'm going for it" i smiled.
"i knew it! oh janie i'm so proud of you for doing this!" she exclaims.
i just smile and think theres no going back now. "when does it start?" i ask.
"in 3 days." she says, "better start packing!"
And with that i race to my room and decide which side of my room to take apart for my two suitcases.
